(Back in the 1940’s) Project Invisibility, Seeing through Metal Walls, etc.: "We are accustomed to thinking of metals as being completely opaque. However, ordinary glass is just as dense as many metals and harder than most and yet transmits light quite readily. Using a ‘frequency multiplier’, a beam of energy could penetrate the metal and act upon any light that reaches it in such a way that the frequency of the light is multiplied to that of the range between the "X-ray" and the "Cosmic Ray" spectrums. At these frequencies the waves pass through the metal quite readily. Then, when these waves leave the metal on the inside, they again interact with the viewing beam, producing what you would call `beat' frequencies which are identical with the original frequencies of the light, so that while you are apparently seeing through the metal you are actually seeing a reproduction.

Soldiers could one day conduct covert operations in complete secrecy, now that Pentagon-backed physicists have figured out how to mask entire events by distorting light.

A team at Cornell University, with support from Darpa, the Pentagon’s out-there research arm, managed to hide an event for 40 picoseconds (those are trillionths of seconds, if you’re counting). They’ve published their groundbreaking research in this week’s edition of the journal Nature.

This is the first time that scientists have succeeded in masking an event, though research teams have in recent years made remarkable strides in cloaking objects. Researchers at the University of Texas, Dallas, last year harnessed the mirage effect to make objects vanish. And in 2010, physicists at the University of St. Andrews made leaps towards using metamaterials to trick human eyes into not seeing what was right in front of them.

Masking an object entails bending light around that object. If the light doesn’t actually hit an object, then that object won’t be visible to the human eye.

Where events are concerned, concealment relies on changing the speed of light. Light that’s emitted from actions, as they happen, is what allows us to see those actions happen. Usually, that light comes in a constant flow. What Cornell researchers did, in simple terms, is tweak that ongoing flow of light — just for a mere iota of time — so that an event could transpire without being observable.

The entire experiment occurred inside a fiber optics cable. Researchers passed a beam of green light down the cable, and had it move through a lens that split the light into two frequencies, one moving slowly and the other faster. As that was happening, they shot a red laser through the beams. Since the laser “shooting” occurred during a teeny, tiny time gap, it was imperceptible.

Sure, the team’s got a ways to go before they’re able to mask 30 seconds of action, let alone several minutes. But the research certainly opens up new possibilities. For one, masking super-quick events, like those that occur with data transmission, could help conceal covert computer operations.

In the words of Nature editors, the research marks “a significant step towards full spatio-temporal cloaking.” But it could be decades before military personnel will basically be able to zap history, as it happens: According to Cornell scientists, it’d take a machine 18,600 miles long to produce a time mask that lasts a single second.

TIME: Many of the difficulties which we encounter in our attempt to understand the operation of the natural laws arise because of our severely restricted concept of the nature of time. Time follows the same curve of natural law which is apparent in the operation of all the basic factors of nature, and again the radius of that curvature is measured by the quantity C. Follow the example in StarSteps which puts us in a unique position from which we can, from a single point in time, observe ourselves occupying three rather widely separated positions in space.

SPACE: The degree of separation which exists between any two bodies is determined by the degree of curvature of the natural laws which exist between them. In making observations, of course, we must remember that, since the natural laws are relative, the mass of the body itself influences the degree of curvature

• ENERGY: We will define energy as the ability to create changes in the position or condition of objects or points of reference. However, energy can create change, only when there exists a differential in the two points between which the change becomes manifest, or when the unit of energy has become divided into its two component parts called poles, or charges. One positive and one negative pole or charge,when united, constitute one photon or quantum of energy.

• The quantity C: is the measure of the radius of curvature of all natural law. The Quantity C actually represents the kinetic energy equivalent of the mass energy of matter. It is the factor which will enable us to determine precisely the degree of change in the curvature of one law which will be brought about by a specified change in the application of the others. It is the factor which will eventually tell us how to place our transport vehicles in either the positive or negative portion of the gravitational curve with respect to the earth or any other planet which we may choose to visit.

• Modulating the Gravitational Curve: The electric charges within the atom are a factor which modulates the shape of the gravitational curve of the nucleus. The shape of the gravitational curve is modified not only by the mass present but also by the number and position of the electrical charges, referring not only to the charges in the outer shell of the atom but to those within as well, and especially to the fact, not always realized, that the neutron possesses both a positive and a negative charge, although when united within the neutron they are not discernible as charges, but exist as energy which produces the gravitational field.

• Magnetic and Electronic Resonance: Any magnetic field which is changing in intensity will create an electric field, which, at any given instant is equal in amplitude, opposite in sign, and perpendicular to the magnetic field. If the two fields become mutually resonant, a vector force will be generated. The effect is similar to, and in fact identical with a gravitational field.

• Force and Gravity: a symmetry exists between force and gravity – as a changing magnetic field induces an electric field, a changing momentum (a force) induces a gravitational field – unbalanced forces localize the zero point energy of matter.

• Field: The electric, magnetic, and gravitational fields are simply special case manifestations of the field principle, and all three result from the division of energy into its two component parts.

Of the world's 7 billion people, one in five does not have access to electricity. And nearly half of the people on Earth still cook on traditional stoves fueled by wood, peat, waste, or dung. The resulting pneumonia, emphysema, bronchitis, and cardiovascular disease due to smoke and soot inhalation causes an estimated 1.9 million premature deaths a year—more than double the number of deaths due to malaria, by World Health Organization statistics.

"Energy poverty translates into grinding, dehumanizing poverty," said United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon this fall in announcing the organization's new goal of achieving energy access for all by 2030. How to finance this effort, and how to ensure that the goal is achieved without worsening the planet's greenhouse gas overload, will be a key focus of a huge U.N. Conference on Sustainable Development June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil—an event that marks the 20th anniversary of the Earth Summit held in the same city.

"We cannot continue to burn our way to prosperity," said Ban. The seemingly conflicting goals of spurring economic development and curbing emissions from fossil fuels have stymied global negotiations on a climate change solution in the 20 years since the original Rio summit.

And yet advocates for the world's energy poor have pointed to International Energy Agency estimates that financing universal energy access would cost only about 3 percent of the world's current total global investments in energy. And spread of more modern means of cooking and lighting would reduce deforestation and the harmful black carbon emissions that worsen global warming. Ghana-based Toyola Energy is one of many companies worldwide making more efficient cookstoves, pictured here, to help provide cleaner energy for cooking at an affordable price. Carbon-credit financing lowers the cost of the devices and Toyola was on track to sell more than 60,000 of its energy-efficient cookstoves in 2011, up from 51,000 the previous year.

The public-private partnership, the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, launched with the help of the nonprofit United Nations Foundation, was working to spread such solutions and raise awareness of the solvable problem.

09 November 2011 London --- Without a bold change of policy direction, the world will lock itself into an insecure, inefficient and high-carbon energy system, the International Energy Agency warned as it launched the 2011 edition of the World Energy Outlook (WEO). The agency's flagship publication, released today in London, said there is still time to act, but the window of opportunity is closing.

"Growth, prosperity and rising population will inevitably push up energy needs over the coming decades. But we cannot continue to rely on insecure and environmentally unsustainable uses of energy," said IEA Executive Director Maria van der Hoeven. "Governments need to introduce stronger measures to drive investment in efficient and low-carbon technologies. The Fukushima nuclear accident, the turmoil in parts of the Middle East and North Africa and a sharp rebound in energy demand in 2010 which pushed CO2 emissions to a record high, highlight the urgency and the scale of the challenge."

"As each year passes without clear signals to drive investment in clean energy, the "lock-in" of high-carbon infrastructure is making it harder and more expensive to meet our energy security and climate goals," said Fatih Birol, IEA Chief Economist. The WEO presents a 450 Scenario, which traces an energy path consistent with meeting the globally agreed goal of limiting the temperature rise to 2°C. Four-fifths of the total energy-related CO2 emissions permitted to 2035 in the 450 Scenario are already locked-in by existing capital stock, including power stations, buildings and factories. Without further action by 2017, the energy-related infrastructure then in place would generate all the CO2 emissions allowed in the 450 Scenario up to 2035. Delaying action is a false economy: for every $1 of investment in cleaner technology that is avoided in the power sector before 2020, an additional $4.30 would need to be spent after 2020 to compensate for the increased emissions.

The Quantum Mechanical Vacuum: First we need some definitions. We start by assuming the quantum mechanical vacuum.1 Empty "spacetime" is filled with an incredibly intense flux of virtual particles. It is a plenum, not an emptiness. We shall be interested only in the fantastic flux of virtual photons, for we are discussing electromagnetics.

Energy and Potential: Energy is any ordering, either static or dynamic, in the virtual particle flux of vacuum. EM energy is any ordering, either static or dynamic, in the virtual photon flux (VPF) of vacuum. That is, for a particular kind of "field" energy, we simply choose the so-called quantum particle of that field, and consider only that kind of virtual particle flux.

Potential is any ordering, either static or dynamic, in the virtual particle flux of vacuum. Hey! That's exactly the same definition as energy. Quite correct. Energy and potential are identically the same. Neither is presently defined correctly in physics.

Energy is normally defined as "Energy is the capacity to do work." That's totally false. Energy has the capacity to do work, because work is correctly defined as the dissipation (disordering; scattering) of energy (order). The scattering of energy is work. It is not energy! I.e., energy is not definable as its own scattering!

Scalar and Vector Potentials: The scalar potential is any static (with respect to the external observer) ordering in the VPF of vacuum. The vector potential is any dynamic (with respect to the external observer) ordering in the VPF of vacuum. We shall be interested in the electrostatic scalar potential. So it is a static ordering -- a stationary template -- in the VPF of vacuum, much as a whirlpool is a stationary ordering (template, form) in the rushing flow of a river. The Scalar Potential Has An Internal Structure

We've had this electromagnetics around for over 100 years -- Maxwell's book was published in 1873. We got it wrong, starting right with Maxwell and his use of the material ether, which was almost universally assumed at the time. Still, by using quaternions, Maxwell succeeded in packing a great deal more in the model than even he himself recognized. When the vector aspects interacted to form a zero resultant translationally, those active interactants were still in there and still fighting and interacting. The scalar component of the quaternion remained, and infolded those struggling vectors and functions of them inside itself. In short, it captured the case where the electromagnetic energies are involved in translation actions which nullify each other translationally (electromagnetically). However, the energies are still in there in the continuing interactants inside the zero vector resultant. As such, they are trapped EM energy. And it is the trapped EM energy inside a mass -- not the mass per se -- which is responsible for gravitation. In other words, Maxwell's theory already correctly captured the unification of the gravitational field and the electromagnetic field in 1873.

Then Heaviside et al forced Maxwell's theory into a vector framework, throwing out the scalar component, and discarding the unification of gravitation and electromagnetics along with it. Serious errors were made and still exist in many of the fundamental definitions; in fact, many of them aren't definitions at all. Nearly every engineer and physicist can readily calculate potentials -- all, of course, on the "dissipation" side where the potentials are actually the amount of potential that was collected upon a collector and then dissipated. I could find hardly a single physicist who really knew what a scalar potential was prior to a finite amount being collected and dissipated as voltage. Yet 99% of them firmly believed they understood the potential.

What if rising sea levels are yet another measure of inequality? What if the assault on America's middle class and the assault on the environment are one and the same?

Money rules:

It's not hard for me to understand how environmental quality and economic inequality came to be joined at the hip. In all my years as a grassroots organizer dealing with the tragic impact of degraded environments on public health, it was always the same: someone got rich and someone got sick.

In the struggles that I was involved in to curb polluters and safeguard public health, those who wanted curbs, accountability, and precautions were always outspent several times over by those who wanted no restrictions on their effluents. We dug into our own pockets for postage money, they had expense accounts. We made flyers to slip under the windshield wipers of parked cars, they bought ads on television. We took time off from jobs to visit legislators, only to discover that they had gone to lunch with fulltime lobbyists.

Naturally, the barons of the chemical and nuclear industries don't live next to the radioactive or toxic-waste dumps that their corporations create; on the other hand, impoverished black and brown people often do live near such ecological sacrifice zones because they can't afford better. Similarly, the gated communities of the hyper-wealthy are not built next to cesspool rivers or skylines filled with fuming smokestacks, but the slums of the planet are. Don't think, though, that it's just a matter of property values or scenery. It's about health, about whether your kids have lead or dioxins running through their veins. It's a simple formula, in fact: wealth disparities become health disparities.

And here's another formula: when there's money to be made, both workers and the environment are expendable. Just as jobs migrate if labor can be had cheaper overseas, I know workers who were tossed aside when they became ill from the foul air or poisonous chemicals they encountered on the job.

The fact is: we won't free ourselves from a dysfunctional and unfair economic order until we begin to see ourselves as communities, not commodities. That is one clear message from Zuccotti Park.

Polluters routinely walk away from the ground they poison and expect taxpayers to clean up after them. By "externalizing" such costs, profits are increased. Examples of land abuse and abandonment are too legion to list, but most of us can refer to a familiar "superfund site" in our own backyard. Clearly, Mother Nature is among the disenfranchised, exploited, and struggling.

Democracy 101:

The 99% pay for wealth disparity with lost jobs, foreclosed homes, weakening pensions, and slashed services, but Nature pays, too. In the world the one-percenters have created, the needs of whole ecosystems are as easy to disregard as, say, the need the young have for debt-free educations and meaningful jobs.

Extreme disparity and deep inequality generate a double standard with profound consequences. If you are a CEO who skims millions of dollars off other people's labor, it's called a "bonus." If you are a flood victim who breaks into a sporting goods store to grab a lifejacket, it's called looting. If you lose your job and fall behind on your mortgage, you get evicted. If you are a banker-broker who designed flawed mortgages that caused a million people to lose their homes, you get a second-home vacation-mansion near a golf course.

If you drag heavy fishnets across the ocean floor and pulverize an entire ecosystem, ending thousands of years of dynamic evolution and depriving future generations of a healthy ocean, it's called free enterprise. But if, like Tim DeChristopher, you disrupt an auction of public land to oil and gas companies, it's called a crime and you get two years in jail.

In campaigns to make polluting corporations accountable, my Utah neighbors and I learned this simple truth: decisions about what to allow into the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat are soon enough translated into flesh and blood, bone and nerve, and daily experience. So it's crucial that those decisions, involving environmental quality and public health, are made openly, inclusively, and accountably. That's Democracy 101.

The corporations that shred habitat and contaminate your air and water are anything but democratic. Stand in line to get your 30 seconds in front of a microphone at a public hearing about the siting of a nuclear power plant, the effluent from a factory farm, or the removal of a mountaintop and you'll get the picture quickly enough: the corporations that profit from such ecological destruction are distant, arrogant, secretive, and unresponsive. The 1% are willing to spend billions impeding democratic initiatives, which is why every so-called environmental issue is also about building a democratic culture.

First kill the EPA, then Social Security:

Beyond all the rhetoric about freedom from the new stars of the Republican Party, the strategy is simple enough: obstruct and misinform, then blame the resulting dysfunction on "government." It's a great scam. Tell the voters that government doesn't work and then, when elected, prove it. And first on the list of government outfits they want to sideline or kill is the Environmental Protection Agency, so they can do away with the already flimsy wall of regulation that stands between their toxins and your bloodstream.

Poll after poll shows that citizens understand the need for environmental rules and safeguards. Mercury is never put into the bloodstreams of nursing mothers by consensus, nor are watersheds fracked until they are flammable by popular demand. But the free market ideologues of the Republican Party are united in opposition to any rule or standard that impedes the "magic" of the marketplace and unchecked capital.

The same bottom-line quarterly-report fixation on profitability that accepts oil spills as inevitable also accepts unemployment as inevitable. Tearing apart wildlife habitat to make a profit and doing the same at a workplace are just considered the price of doing business. Clearcutting a forest and clearcutting a labor force are two sides of the same coin.

Beware of growth:

Getting the economy growing has been the refrain of the Obama administration and the justification for every bad deal, budget cut, and unbalanced compromise it's made. The desperate effort to grow the economy to solve our economic woes is what keeps Timothy Geithner at the helm of the Treasury and is what stalls the regulation of greenhouse gasses. It's why we are told we must sacrifice environmental quality for pipelines and why young men and women are sacrificed to protect access to oil, the lubricant for an acquisitive economic engine. The financial empire of the one percenters and the political order it has shaped are predicated on easy and relentless growth. How, we are asked, will there be enough for everyone if we don't keep growing?

The fundamental contradiction of our time is this: we have built an all-encompassing economic engine that requires unending growth. A contraction of even a percent or two is a crisis, and yet we are embedded in ecosystems that are reaching or have reached their limits. This isn't complicated: There's only so much fertile soil or fresh water available, only so many fish in the ocean, only so much CO2 the planet can absorb and remain habitable.

Yes, you can get around this contradiction for a while by exploiting your neighbor's habitat, using technological advances to extend your natural resources, and stealing from the future -- that is, using up soil, minerals, and water your grandchildren (someday to be part of that same 99%) will need. But the limits to those familiar and, in the past, largely successful strategies are becoming more evident all the time.

At some point, we'll discover that you can't exist for long beyond the boundaries of the natural world, that (as with every other species) if you overload the carrying capacity of your habitat, you crash. Warming temperatures, chaotic weather patterns, extreme storms, monster wildfires, epic droughts, Biblical floods, an avalanche of species extinction... that collapse is upon us now. In the human realm, it translates into hunger and violence, mass migrations and civil strife, failed states and resource wars.

Like so much else these days, the crash, as it happens, will not be suffered in equal measure by all of us. The one percenters will be atop the hill, while the 99% will be in the flood lands below swimming for their lives, clinging to debris, or drowning. The Great Recession has previewed just how that will work.

An unsustainable economy is inherently unfair, and worse is to come. After all, the car is heading for the cliff's edge, the grandkids are in the backseat, and all we're arguing about is who can best put the pedal to the metal.

Occupy Earth:

Give credit where it's due: it's been the genius of the protesters in Zuccotti Park to shift public discourse to whether the distribution of economic burdens and rewards is just and whether the economic system makes us whole or reduces and divides us. It's hard to imagine how we'll address our converging ecological crises without first addressing the way accumulating wealth and power has captured the political system. As long as Washington is dominated and intimidated by giant oil companies, Wall Street speculators, and corporations that can buy influence and even write the rules that make buying influence possible, there's no meaningful way to deal with our economy's addiction to fossil fuels and its dire consequences.

Nature's 99% is an amazingly diverse community of species. They feed and share and recycle within a web of relationships so dynamic and complex that we have yet to fathom how it all fits together. What we have excelled at so far is breaking things down into their parts and then reassembling them; that, after all, is how a barrel of crude oil becomes rocket fuel or a lawn chair.

When it comes to the more chaotic, less linear features of life like climate, ecosystems, immune systems, or fetal development, we are only beginning to understand thresholds and feedback loops, the way the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts. But we at least know that the parts matter deeply and that, before we even fully understand them, we're losing them at an accelerating rate. Forests are dying, fisheries are going, extinction is on steroids.

Degrading the planet's operating systems to bolster the bottom line is foolish and reckless. It hurts us all. No less important, it's unfair. The 1% profit, while the rest of us cough and cope.

The shape of the gravitational curve is modified not only by the mass present but also by the number and position of the electrical charges, referring not only to the charges in the outer shell of the atom but to those within as well, and especially to the fact, not always realized, that the neutron possesses both a positive and a negative charge, although when united within the neutron they are not discernible as charges, but exist as energy which produces the gravitational field.

• Magnetic and Electronic Resonance: Any magnetic field which is changing in intensity will create an electric field, which, at any given instant is equal in amplitude, opposite in sign, and perpendicular to the magnetic field. If the two fields become mutually resonant, a vector force will be generated. The effect is similar to, and in fact identical with a gravitational field.

• Force and Gravity: a symmetry exists between force and gravity – as a changing magnetic field induces an electric field, a changing momentum (a force) induces a gravitational field – unbalanced forces localize the zero point energy of matter

In 1972, the Club of Rome (COR) shocked the world with a study titled The Limits To Growth. Two main conclusions were reached by this study. The first suggests that if economic-development-as-we-know-it continues, society will run out of nonrenewable resources before the year 2072 with the most probable result being “a rather sudden and uncontrollable decline in both population and industrial capacity.” [[1]] The second conclusion of the study is that piecemeal approaches to solving individual problems will not be successful. For example, the COR authors arbitrarily double their estimates of the resource base and allow their model to project a new scenario based on this new higher level of resources. Collapse occurs in the new scenario because of pollution instead of resource depletion. The bottom line is traditional forms of economic development will end in less than 100 years – one way or another. Life on Earth is driven by energy. Autotrophs take it from solar radiation and heterotrophs take it from autotrophs. Energy captured slowly by photosynthesis is stored up, and as denser reservoirs of energy have come into being over the course of Earth's history, heterotrophs that could use more energy evolved to exploit them, Homo sapiens is such a heterotroph; indeed, the ability to use energy extrasomatically (outside the body) enables human beings to use far more energy than any other heterotroph that has ever evolved. The control of fire and the exploitation of fossil fuels have made it possible for Homo sapiens to release, in a short time, vast amounts of energy that accumulated long before the species appeared.

By using extrasomatic energy to modify more and more of its environment to suit human needs, the human population effectively expanded its resource base so that for long periods it has exceeded contemporary requirements. This allowed an expansion of population similar to that of species introduced into extremely, propitious new habitats, such as rabbits in Australia or Japanese beetles in the United States. The world's present population of over 5.5 billion is sustained and continues to grow through the use of extrasomatic energy.

Nothing human is alien to anthropology. Indeed, of the many disciplines that study our species, Homo sapiens, only anthropology seeks to understand the whole panorama--in geographic space and evolutionary time--of human existence. American Anthropology Association

Motivation

It is now being widely recognized that the human species is on the brink of massive changes as great as those resulting from the rise of industrialization, and perhaps even as great as the changes brought about by the development of food production. The interlocked problems of non-renewable resource depletion, accumulating industrial waste, biosphere degradation, and climate change lead both expert and lay observers to postulate drastic predictions about the foreseeable future. The events being predicted for the coming decades and next couple centuries are, by almost all current standards, extremely negative: e.g. the replacement of democratic civil society by authoritarian police states, the permanent collapse of electric power grids, resulting in the loss of all digitally encoded information, the collapse of industrialized food production and a "die off" of human population, etc.

Three times over the past several years I have offered a seminar course entitled "Anthropological Perspectives on the Energy Crisis." Anthropology (using the term in its inclusive American sense that seeks to combine human evolution, bioanthropology, archaeology, culture history, linguistics, and much more with social anthropology) is the social science that most fundamentally takes a global view, looks at the human species over the long (indeed evolutionary) scale, and has investigated the collapse of past civilizations with a comparative, multidisciplinary, cultural-ecological approach. The seminar examined the validity of the dire predictions of an energy shortage and climatic crisis. We also looked at various studies of the trajectories of past civilizations. And we searched for analyses in the social sciences, and particularly in anthropology, that might help us understand current processes and help us anticipate and prepare for the future. Surely, we asked, anthropological theory and research has something to contribute to these debates. In short, of what use is anthropology?

To date the results of this quest have been very slight. Rather than being centrally concerned with these issues, academic anthropology is largely silent, and seems about to be overwhelmed by the truly global transformations occurring among its own subjects and to be rendered irrelevant. This paper is my attempt to explain why I think the discipline is not dealing with the real world (and a plea to colleagues to save me from my ignorance if there are anthropologists who are addressing the crisis).

The Zeitgeist Movement

exists as the communication and "Activist Arm" of an organization called The Venus Project. The Venus Project was started many decades ago by Social/Industrial Designer Jacque Fresco and his life's work has been to address and overcome the lack of sustainability existing currently across the world and work to incorporate new methods and values before it is too late. The basic pursuit of The Movement is to begin a transition into a new, sustainable social design called a “Resource-Based Economy”. This term was first coined by Jacque Fresco of the Venus Project and refers to an economic structure based exclusively on strategic resource management as the starting point for all decisions.

Basic Observations:
In the view of The Movement, the world today has become very detached from the physical world, with techniques of production and distribution that have no relationship to the environment. Our use of a profit based, “growth” driven monetary system has become one of the greatest destroyers of the natural world, not to mention sustainable human values. It is important to understand that the entire global economy requires “cyclical consumption” to operate, which means that money must constantly be circulating. Thus, new goods and services must be constantly introduced regardless of the state of the environment and actual human necessity. This "perpetual" approach has a fatal flaw, for resources as we know it are simply not infinite. Resources are finite and the Earth is essentially a closed system.
The true goal of any economy is to preserve - or "economize" - this is not occurring and cannot occur in a monetary driven system where labor for income requires consumer demand. We actually live in a global "anti-economy" by all rational standards.

Also, the intents inherent within a monetary system are counter progressive and derive a strategic edge from scarcity. This means that depleted resources are actually a positive thing for industry in the short term, for more money can be made off each respective unit. This is known as the basic law of supply & demand and hence “value” in economics. This creates a perverse reinforcement to ignore environmental problems and the negative consequences of scarcity, for it literally translates into profit. There is little intrinsic motivation to "solve" any problem or to make things that last in the current model. It is much more beneficial for jobs and hence profit to "service" things- not resolve them.

In other words, the system requires problems/constant consumer interest in order to work. The more people who have cancer in America, the better the economy due to expensive medical treatments. Needless to say, this generates an inherent disregard for human well being. The monetary arrangement, whether in the form of capitalism, communism, socialism, fascism, free-market or the like, is utterly detached from natural resources and thus human well-being. It is erroneously assumed that the incentive to seek money is also the incentive to help society. Nothing could be further from the truth. For example, every single product created by a corporation today is immediately inferior by design, for the market requirement to cut creation costs in favor of lowering the output "purchase price" to maintain a competitive edge, automatically reduces the quality of any given item by default. In other words it is impossible to create the “strategically best”, long lasting anything in our society and this translates into, again, outrageous amounts of resource waste. This is entirely and provably unsustainable as a social system and the world you are beginning to see emerge around you, with growing starvation, poverty, unemployment; along with the growing scarcity of water, food and arable land, is the result.

In other words, it is time to update society to present day knowledge, taking the carrying capacity of the earth into account and realigning our methods based not on the reward of monetary gain..but the goal of social sustainability as a whole. ENERGETIC LIMITS TO GROWTH

By definition, energy "sources" must generate more energy than they consume; otherwise, they are "sinks".

In 1972, the Club of Rome (COR) shocked the world with a study titled The Limits To Growth. Two main conclusions were reached by this study. The first suggests that if economic-development-as-we-know-it continues, society will run out of nonrenewable resources before the year 2072 with the most probable result being “a rather sudden and uncontrollable decline in both population and industrial capacity.” [[1]] The second conclusion of the study is that piecemeal approaches to solving individual problems will not be successful. For example, the COR authors arbitrarily double their estimates of the resource base and allow their model to project a new scenario based on this new higher level of resources. Collapse occurs in the new scenario because of pollution instead of resource depletion. The bottom line is traditional forms of economic development will end in less than 100 years – one way or another. The COR study has been much belittled but proof of the COR's thesis can readily be found in the real-world concept of “net energy” and that is the focus of this article.

Net Energy: One seldom thinks about the energy that is utilized in systems that supply energy – such as oil-fired power plants. But energy is also utilized when exploring for fuel, building the machinery to mine the fuel, mining the fuel, building and operating the power plants, building power lines to transmit the energy, decommissioning the plants, and so on. The difference between the total energy input (i.e., the energy value of the sought after energy) minus all of the energy utilized to run an energy supply system equals the "net energy" (in other words, the net amount of energy actually available to society to do useful work).

We mine our minerals and fossil fuels from the Earth's crust. The deeper we dig, the greater the minimum energy requirements. Of course, the most concentrated and most accessible fuels and minerals are mined first; thereafter, more and more energy is required to mine and refine poorer and poorer quality resources. New technologies can, on a short-term basis, decrease energy costs, but neither technology nor “prices” can repeal the laws of thermodynamics:

** In the 1950s, oil producers discovered about fifty barrels of oil for every barrel invested in drilling and pumping. Today, the figure is only about five for one. Sometime around 2005, that figure will become one for one. Under that latter scenario, even if the price of oil reaches $500 a barrel, it wouldn't be logical to look for new oil in the US because it would consume more energy than it would recover. [[7]]

Decreasing net energy sets up a positive feedback loop: since oil is used directly or indirectly in everything, as the energy costs of oil increase, the energy costs of everything else increase too – including other forms of energy. For example, oil provides about 50% of the fuel used in coal extraction. [[8]]

Oil One of the most important characteristics of energy is its “quality”. Fuels come in varying qualities. For example, coal contains more energy per pound than wood, which makes coal more efficient to store and transport than wood. Oil has a higher energy content per unit weight and burns at a higher temperature than coal; it is easier to transport, and can be used in internal combustion engines. A diesel locomotive wastes only one-fifth the energy of a coal-powered steam engine to pull the same train. Oil’s many advantages provide 1.3 to 2.45 times more economic value per kilocalorie than coal. [[9]]

Oil is the highest quality energy we use, making up about 38 percent of the world energy supply. No other energy source equals oil’s intrinsic qualities of relative ease of extraction, transportability, versatility and cost. The qualities that enabled oil to take over from coal as the front-line energy source in the industrialized world in the middle of this century are as relevant today as they were then.

Unfortunately, forecasts about the abundance of oil are warped by inconsistent definitions of “reserves”. In truth, every year for the past two decades the industry has pumped more oil than it has discovered, and production will soon be unable to keep up with rising demand. For the last 50 years, many geologists and oil companies have published estimates of the total amount of crude oil that will ultimately be recovered from the Earth over all time. Remarkably, these assessments of EUR oil have varied little over the past half century [10] and global oil production is now expected to peak around 2005. [[11]]

The End of the Consumer Economy Although economists are trained to treat energy just like any other resource when it comes to “supply and demand”, it is manifestly not like any other resource. Net energy is the pre-condition for all other resources. The coming peak in global oil production signals the end of the consumer economy because nothing can replace conventional oil.

Money Is Not Energy Energy companies are in business to make money – not energy. For example, economic subsidies allow ethanol companies to waste energy while making a profit. Specifically, about 71% more energy is used to produce a gallon of ethanol than the energy contained in a gallon of ethanol. [[24]] Obviously, alternative energy technologies that require energy subsidies are only viable as long as we don't need them! From the standpoint of achieving society’s goal of a long-term solution to our energy problems, profit is simply the wrong objective for energy companies. Even without direct and indirect subsidies of $650 billion a year [[25]] it's conceivable that energy companies could make money – but lose energy – by burning one $10-barrel of oil today in order to pump one-half of a $50-barrel tomorrow. The price of oil is expected to rise sharply – and permanently – when global oil production peaks in less than ten years.

Economists Can't See It Coming "Energy" is defined as the capacity of a physical system to do work. Over a hundred years ago, scientists pointed out that energy – not money – is the true source of the capitalist's wealth:

This limited energy concept has been shown to be directly tied in to the impossibly bloated and unbalanced economic system.

Consider extrapolating philosopher David Hume’s method, from the original corporate model, to current and future multinational corporate concepts, culminating with a few multinationals and investors who will soon own 98-99% of all the world’s wealth and resources required for human life.

It does not require much thought that “free market”, “unregulated”,” it’s all mine”, no longer fits the picture, no longer has the right, the license, to do as it pleases, with the current world’s population of seven billion lives resting on the whims of one or two lords and kings owning everything required for human life, whose only mandate is increasing the bottom (profit) line.

Today`s change is not just more rapid, more complex, more turbulent, and more unpredictable. Today`s change is unlike any encountered before. The surprising fact is that change itself has changed! By looking to our greatest teacher, Mother Nature, we can understand the natural change process. The ceaseless process of change takes on unique characteristics at different points in time. Energy, the ability to do work, is the most important dynamic, organic, and vital part of the human drama. For the past 10,000 years, we have simply grabbed some wood, oil or coal to make a fire. Yes, our ancestors did it even back in the Stone Age. It has been an easy way to cook food, heat our caves, and explode gasses in metal cylinders with pistons. Many believe that we should just continue this human family tradition, even if our collective population has ballooned to billions across the planet and the carbon from our campfires keeps collecting in the atmosphere.

It is been scientifically concluded that, since carbon dioxide is such a stable molecule, the CO2 from the first Model T Fords is still floating around in the atmosphere. And what about those cars? In 1950, the US was producing half of the world’s oil and used most of it to power the automobiles. Fifty years later, we don’t even produce half of our own oil. Furthermore, the climate crisis has now burst our bubble of continuing to burn cheap energy, since fuel-based energy is no longer cheap and the effects of global warming are becoming more apparent every day.

Nikola Tesla, the father of AC electricity, countered this trend a century ago when he said, “If we use fuel to get our power, we are living on our capital and exhausting it rapidly. This method is barbarous and wantonly wasteful and will have to be stopped in the interest of coming generations.” Tesla further went on to state, “With its full development and a perfect system of wireless transmission of our energy to any distance, man will be able to solve all the problems of material existence.”

Today, the wireless transmission of electrical energy is emerging on several fronts. MIT professor Marin Soljacic has a short distance wireless power demonstration with two coils using magnetic resonance and thinks he is following in the footsteps of Tesla.

However, Professor Emeritus James Corum, of the University of West Virginia, can rightly be called a world’s expert on Nikola Tesla’s wireless electricity since he has published dozens of articles on Tesla’s designs with amazing scientific accuracy regarding the earth-ionosphere capacitor circuit that only distributes power when the consumer turns on the appliance. In contrast, the U.S. electrical grid loses approximately 2/3 of its energy on the way to the final distribution point, even if the customer never uses it! At the 2003 Nikola Tesla Energy Science Conference in Washington DC, sponsored by Integrity Research Institute, Dr. Corum stated that Tesla’s basic concepts of transmitting power with high efficiency (over 95%) around the globe had been confirmed from his perspective. Corum has also written about Tesla’s “magnifying transmitter” and his extremely low frequency (ELF) oscillator, which are integral parts of what Telsa’s Wardenclyffe Tower was designed and built for in 1903. Professor Konstantin Meyl from the University of Furtwangen, Germany also has written about wireless power transmission and has a working demonstration model that can be seen on the web, powering a small boat remotely. All of this evidence confidently points to the development of wireless electricity for much of the world in the future.

What else is available for the energy of the near future and how will energy distribution look in the short term, just a few decades from now? One easy answer is that the power grids of the future will mix and match the energy sources in order to network assets. These will include biomass converters, solar, wind, microturbines and geothermal configured as dispersed small-scale generators, combined with other distributed resources such as flywheel storage devices and sophisticated control equipment, in order to avoid investment in large, costly central power plants. This is the plan of ABB Ltd., a Swiss based engineering company that has recently divested itself of building large power plants in favor of community-based energy infrastructure.

Another future trend that holds promise is the concept of “Energy Islands” that provide a diversified, sustainable combination of wind, solar and ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) all together on an island. Most of these will be located in the equatorial regions where the temperature difference between the surface and 1000 meters depth exceeds 20°C. The concept will be launched later this year at Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Earth Challenge which offers a $25 million in prizes to innovative solutions that combat global warming.

I am optimistic about ZPE rectifier diodes with “zero bias” as the best solid state means for converting the quantum vacuum fluctuations into single direction, direct current (DC) electricity.

Dating back to the 1980’s, Dr. Gerard O’Neill, MIT professor and author of Space Colonies, developed a plan for space solar power (SSP) which has recently gained support from the Pentagon. SSP is a design that would replace fossil fuel energy generation for major, earth-based centralized power systems. Recently, Space Solar Power Institute presented Congressman Bart Gordon, Chairman of the Committee of Science and Technology, with a draft for the formation of a privately-owned SunSat Corporation. Internationally, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) began testing the ‘microwave power transmission system’ for their planned Space Solar Power System (SSPS), conceived as giant solar collectors in geostationary orbit, with plans to be up and running by 2030.

The National Research Council (NRC) of Canada has developed a relatively cheap, efficient, and non-polluting technology to convert the energy of ocean currents into electricity. The Davis Hydro Turbine, invented by engineer Barry Davis, is designed to produce electricity from ocean tides. At the Second Conference on Future Energy in 2006, in Washington DC, sponsored by Integrity Research Institute, Blue Energy International’s Martin Burger described his company’s available Micro Power System for the remote domestic customer kilowatt needs. He also presented the Midrange ocean turbine for remote communities in the hundred-kilowatt range and lastly, the Mega Power System tidal fence for an ocean inlet megawatt generation. Burger described six prototypes that have been built and tested under the auspices of the NRC, proving the concept is viable.

Another trend that can be called a revolution is the transformation in the solar industry by multiple breakthroughs on all fronts in the early part of this new millennium. Los Alamos National Laboratory has recently broken through the single electron barrier by shrinking the elements of a solar cell down to a few nanometers. Now each captured photon of light can be made to generate not one, but two and even more electron charge carrier. Producing this multiplicity of electrons, a feat duplicated by the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL), is a sign that photovoltaic (PV) cells will soon be seen on the market with two to three times the output for the same size cell as before (Physical Review Letters, V. 92, p. 186601, 2006 and Nano Letters, V. 6, p. 424). A new mechanism for focusing light on small areas of photovoltaic material could make solar power in residential and commercial applications cheaper than electricity from the grid in most markets in the next few years. At half the cost of conventional solar panels, Soliant Energy, a startup based in Pasadena, CA, has developed the new solar modules. Konarka is another breakthrough company that has developed low-cost plastics for solar cells that are efficient across a much broader spectrum of light than traditional cells, allowing them to draw energy from both the sun and indoor lighting.

A new mechanism for focusing light on small areas of photovoltaic material could make solar power in residential and commercial applications cheaper than electricity from the grid in most markets in the next few years.

Since its material is lightweight and flexible it can be colored, patterned and cut to fit almost any device. Konarka envisions embedding its material in cell phones, laptops and toys to provide power on the go. Clothing could be woven with the material to supply power for handheld electronics, and signboards, traffic lights and rooftops could be fitted with solar strips. Thus, solar power will become ubiquitous in the near future because of so many current advances in this energy field.

There is also a revitalized and refurbished nuclear industry on the horizon for the near future. Why? Because the nuclear waste problem has been solved. Little attention was paid to the First International Conference on Future Energy, originally scheduled for the U.S. State Department in Washington DC but then forced into a local hotel by official government pressure.

However, notably, the only speaker to “pass muster” during the coerced “peer review” was Dr. Paul Brown, whose nuclear remediation discovery was praised by the only physicist on staff at the State Department, Dr. Peter Zimmerman. His company, Nuclear Solutions, used gamma rays (high energy X-rays) to zap mixed nuclear waste by knocking out one neutron on the average through “giant dipole resonance.” The amazing part is that this process was also independently discovered by the Institute for Transuranium Elements overseas a few years later, also with the nuclear material sealed in acrylic while it is treated with a tabletop gamma ray laser. The treated waste has a short half-life of hours or weeks, compared to the originally unacceptable thousands of years. With the demise of the government’s Accelerated Transmutation of Waste (ATW) program, going the same way of the doomed Tokamak, the door opens for a lower energy treatment that does not activate the waste while trying to treat it, as ATW continued to do throughout its trials. This is where onsite Laser-Driven Photo Transmutation of long-lived radioactive waste finally will step in, reviving the fission reactor program, with heightened security and elimination of off-site radioactive transport or long term storage.

One easy answer is that the power grids of the future will mix and match the energy sources in order to network assets. These will include biomass converters, solar, wind, microturbines and geothermal configured as dispersed small-scale generators.

Energy experts and historians of energy agree that as societies advance and complexify, they need more and more concentrated, intense forms of energy, like rocket fuel instead of gasoline. Furthermore, for mobile modern societies of the future, transportation will be pollution-free and versatile. For example, of the several converging trends for getting around, “ultracapacitors” are being developed for electric cars to completely replace batteries. They have lighter weight and ten times the energy density of lead-acid batteries. The company to watch is EEStor, a startup from Cedar Park, Texas that is collaborating with Zenn Motor (TSX: ZNN) to roll out new highway speed vehicles by the Fall of 2009.

In the future energy portfolio, another surprising development is the permanent magnet powered motors which are an emerging trend bound to come to market. A number of developments, such as the Spiral Wankel Magnetic Motor and other different designs, all point to the use of the “magnetic gradient” in the same way we presently access an electrical voltage or a change in altitude for hydropower. Professor Emeritus Theodore Loder of the University of New Hampshire is a pioneer in the field and presented developments at the Second International Conference on Future Energy in 2006. In addition, Dr. Thorsten Ludwig and I are co-authoring a paper on “Magnetism as a Zero-Point Energy Effect” because quantum mechanics is filled with zero point energy (ZPE) references explaining the spinning of electrons that cause magnetic fields.

A number of discoveries in the field have made zero point energy (ZPE) much more understandable and accessible to the common physicist. A recent book based on a feasibility study has helped to educate the public about the available means in the future for using ZPE to produce useful electricity and even force production. I am optimistic about ZPE rectifier diodes with “zero bias” as the best solid state means for converting the quantum vacuum fluctuations into single direction, direct current (DC) electricity.

While moving away from petrochemicalbased electrical energy for appliances and transportation is important for the future, there is growing interest in new methods of healing beyond petrochemical based pharmaceuticals. The use of electricity on the surface of the human body, for countering free radicals, pain, and a host of diseases, is becoming more popular with the alternative health community, since it is also free of side effects (More about ‘energy healing’ in a future issue of SuperConsciousness Magazine).

Tesla further went on to state, “With its full development and a perfect system of wireless transmission of our energy to any distance, man will be able to solve all the problems of material existence.”

There are many other promising future energy avenues, too numerous to mention. The work of Josef Papp, who used a patented mixture of noble gases in a closed internal sparking engine, is an exciting example being well-funded by the Infinite Horizons company in California. The plan is to run a modified car engine for a few thousand hours on the same mixture of inert gases that minutely undergo nuclear transmutation with each explosion. Every few months the gas will need to be replaced but at a very low cost compared to gasoline and without any pollution whatsoever.

It can be said that the future will be so bright; you might want to wear shades.

Everyone knows we live in an unequal world. Half of the world’s population has nothing, a great majority struggles to make ends meet, while wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few.

Strangely, few people realize how excessive the inequality has become under the reign of today’s super-Mammon. The world now counts 358 billionaires, whose net worth equals the combined net worth of the world’s 2.5 billion poorest people. The capitalization of some banks exceeds the total national production of 100 countries. This inequitable result is not unavoidable. The gap is not a natural human process.

Left unhindered, this unnatural process thwarting Human and Energy Evolution can be devastating beyond imagination. Without this unnatural process, the CONTROL grid collapses. When the quantity C, originally defined by the velocity of light, is now also defined by the kinetic energy equivalent of the mass energy of matter, “Let there be light” becomes enhanced with a far more practical meaning. It could be said, everything we see and touch is light in motion or light stationary.
It is therefore not surprising:
•In short, the quantity C is the measure of the radius of curvature of natural law. It is the factor which will enable us to determine precisely the degree of change in the curvature of one law which will be brought about by a specified change in the application of the others. It is the factor which will eventually tell us how to place our transport vehicles in either the positive or negative portion of the gravitational curve with respect to the earth or any other planet which we may choose to visit.

•When we state that the quantity C is the radius of the curvature of natural law, we mean simply that if a differential of energy equal to this quantity exists between the observer and the point which he is observing, the natural laws will be suspended. If the energy differential is in excess of the quantity C, the laws will appear to operate in reverse at that point.

Understanding the radius of curvature, symbolized by our ancestors with the circle and; sine wave, un-hides the hidden variables, removes the foundational problems described in The Trouble With Physics, and leads toward self recognition of very advanced and practical solutions, scientifically validating the age old philosophies surmised by Walter Russell and Judge Thomas Troward, merging physics with metaphysics.

The "will" unfolds naturally with an expanding view of energy technology far beyond the shallow definition of current day science. More and more people seem convinced that something dramatic will happen at the end of 2012. Something dramatic will indeed happen -- and it could be something dramatically good. While the world will not suddenly become a paradise on earth, we could launch a process that would take it in that direction. Because the end of 2012 will be a transition from one age to the next. But into what age it will transit is not decided yet. All we know is that the processes of change that have been building throughout the 20th century will reach a point of no return -- the point at which whatever direction they take will become effectively irreversible. Now, in the spring of 2011, we are almost at that critical tipping point.

It has not reached the tipping point because some people -- for the most part those whose economic and political interests are tied to the status quo -- believe that the current system can still be maintained. They are trying to restabilize it in business, finance, and politics, and refuse to admit that doing so is futile. Their efforts can delay the coming of the tipping point, but cannot avert it. The wiser option is to try to transcend the current system and find ways of organizing ourselves that allow us to live in peace with ourselves, with others, and with nature. This is a realistic option. We have the technology, the money, and the know-how to achieve it. The question is, whether we also have the will.

We need new thinking. Einstein told us that we can't solve a problem with the same kind of thinking that gave rise to the problem, and if our problem is the obsolescence of the world we have created, we need to shift to a new paradigm for our life and civilization. The same thinking that got us here will bring us to the critical tipping point -- and to the irreversible leap which is then likely to be down, rather than up.

We should have long known that the world we have created is not sustainable. In 1962, in her seminal book Silent Spring, Rachel Carson told us that the way we treat our environment is not tenable and is bound to backfire, and in 1972 the Club of Rome published The Limits to Growth, a computerized world model with social and economic and not only ecological parameters. It predicted that in the absence of major change, the world system would collapse in less than a hundred years. Today the condition of unsustainability is widely recognized, but not many realize that we don't have a hundred years before it reaches a tipping point.

We live in a time of crises. The crises are many and diverse, but their cause is basically the same: a serious, and in the absence of determined change, terminal mismanagement of our affairs on this planet.

•There is unsustainability in the ecology. The way we withdraw and consume water, manage our productive lands and the resources of the sea, cannot be prolonged for long. A growing population with growing per capita resource consumption is rapidly depleting the vital resources of the planet. The way we pollute the air is not sustainable either: it would soon present serious health hazards especially in urban and industrial agglomerations.

•There is unsustainability in the economy. Despite great advances in the technologies of production and distribution, the gap is growing between rich and poor. In its search for markets and profits, mainstream businesses feed people's appetite for resource consumption, pushing one natural resource after another past peek production into decline. In its present form the global financial system is entirely untenable, yet bankers and politicians still try to stabilize it.

•Social structures are breaking down in countries both developed and developing, and inequality and injustice, exposed by global flows of information, fuel resentment and revolt. Grassroots movements to overthrow dictators and power-elites are sweeping Africa and are spreading to Asia and Latin America. Growing waves of migrants move from social and political hot-spots and ecologically threatened areas toward relatively stable and prosperous regions, where they stress society and overload the economy and the ecology.

In addition to unsustainabilities of our own creation, nature produces cataclysms of its own. These, as the earthquake off the shores of Japan showed, can create social and technological breakdowns that vastly magnify the disruptions and damages.

Yet living in a crisis-ridden world has its positive side. The silver lining at the edge of the gathering clouds is what the Chinese had long known but we have all but forgotten: crisis is both danger and opportunity. The dangers are now evident, and also the opportunities are becoming visible. A "green economy" offers far-sighted entrepreneurs new ways to grow by shifting to less wasteful and hazardous forms of resource production and use. Unpredictable fluctuations prompt more and more people to ask whether today's unstable and inequitable financial system could be replaced with a system where money is used to enhance life and well-being, rather than to make more money.

The nuclear meltdown in Japan triggered a worldwide debate on whether there is a future based on this inherently dangerous technology. Is "nuclear future" an oxymoron?
Do we really need to boil water by fissioning the atom in order to produce steam to drive old-fashioned turbines to generate electricity -- when we know how to transform a stream of photons into a stream of electrons and can harness the power of wind, water, plants, and tide?

The dangers are real, and they are less and less tolerant of delay. Fortunately the opportunities to create real change are growing as well. In business, in the media, and even in politics, the will to explore alternatives is growing. The rapid rise of investment in clean technologies and green products, the wave of socially and ecologically conscious electoral shifts in Europe as well as in Latin America, and the revolt of suppressed masses in the Arab countries are signs that people, entire societies, are ready to leave the status quo and set out on new paths. The worldshift is now under way.

Choosing our future by consciously furthering and steering the burgeoning worldshift is the greatest opportunity ever to have been granted a generation in history. It is up to us to seize it -- and ensure the future of humankind on the planet.

Einstein recognized the need for science to outgrow the "flatland" of scientific fundamentals and move out of the dark ages of a flat world science concept. The radius of curvature encompassing natural law based on E=MC2 was and is the magic bullet that can both transform our concept and applications of energy while at the same time create unlimited ecconomic prosperiety for all.

It would even make cold fussion far more readily understood and applicable.

We are beginning to slide irreversibly down a curve of declining production of petroleum fuel. And as that fuel evaporates from our lives, all that was built from oil, gas, and coal will erode away along with it.

It was in physics class so long ago that I heard “things that can’t continue, don’t continue.” The world is racing to extract the last patches of oil, and we mortgage a precious chemical stock from which is manufactured communications equipment to medical devices, while the ecocide gets exponentially worse.

The BP oil catastrophe destroyed the Gulf Coast in the southern US, killing life in the ocean and the shoreline. “Collateral damage” continues to float in – dead. See http://bpoilslick.blogspot.com/ and Project Gulf Impact because you won’t be reading about it on the news anytime soon.

The abomination that is “fracking” assures honest folk that those involved in the current corporate-energy structure have no sense of decency whatsoever (if they hadn’t already known). See our recent post “What the Frack is Going On?”

The above mentioned geological facts are compounded by an overpopulated planet using up its store of resources, as economic collapse looms, as currencies inflate to worthlessness, price inflation drives hunger, homelessness, and war.

Nothing will stop the pain of transition, not even preparing for it, though prepare we must. Times are tough and getting tougher. Preparing can provide significant comfort, or even save you life.

But what about after? If humans are to exist on this planet with advanced medial scanning, satellite communications, solar cells, wind turbines, and batteries to store energy, all of these things need advanced engineering, precision manufacturing, and regular maintenance by skilled technicians.

And if you can’t get enough energy to support an infrastructure to make these things then, that’s it. Humans will live as we did hundreds of years ago, though without the abundant natural resources. Only, 7 billion people can’t live like that because there wouldn’t be tree left on the planet. Then we’d disappear soon thereafter.

So then, why prepare if there’s no future?

Because we will make a future.

In recent months, Cold Fusion Now has contacted various media entities just to drop the cold fusion meme out there in the Chip Body, from Energy Bulletin authors to financial news broadcasts. We sent Michael C. Ruppert the answers to his “Nine Questions to Ask About Alternative Energy” as answered by Jed Rothwell in relation to cold fusion. Mr. Ruppert’s response was posted on his Facebook page.

Read closely. There’s no magic bullet. Our civilization cannot function without transportation. And there isn’t the economic or raw material wherwithall to build 800 million new engines and retrofit them into land vehicles and ships. Aircraft would have to be completely redesigned because of fuel tanks that wouldn’t be needed. And that’s assuming cold fusion could replace jet thrust with steam. I doubt it. We’re too far into collapse economically for this to make a difference. I’m glad they went to the effort to answer my questions. But their answers themselves tell why this is nothing to get excited about.

While it’s true there is no magic bullet, this response reveals a misunderstanding about what cold fusion technology means for our planet.
This technology is often categorized “disruptive”, and there’s good reason why. Cold fusion, quantum fusion, low-energy nuclear reactions, all of this research is not an incremental development within a chemical-burning history that goes back to burning wood. Cold fusion is the kind of discovery that ranks with fire itself. The same way the discovery of fire radically changed human development, cold fusion will alter our existence in ways we can’t even think of.

When (and I am compelled to say when for the alternative is too horrific to entertain), this technology develops, there will be no more “aircraft with steam”. There will be no transportation system as it exists now.

Read closely: The entire rusting heap of the Oil Age environment will no longer exist, and a different relationship with our world will emerge.

How can this be said with such defiant certainty?

Marshall McLuhan dissected the anatomy of society and technology in books such as The Gutenberg Galaxy, Media: Extensions of Man, War and Peace in the Global Village, and Laws of Media, written with his son Eric.

The conclusion? Every new technology creates an new environment of services and disservices different from the previous technology. The cold fusion environment will be completely different than the oil age environment.

Oh sure, there may still be some cars around, like some people still have beepers, but not many. Cars will be antiques, the same way cars from the 50s are antiques, with a whole antique-car-network to service it.

Does anyone really remember what they did before spending hours a day on Facebook? Not many (except me – I’m not on Facebook!) Do you even know that phones used to be connected to walls, and you had to walk around your TV as a piece of furniture? Perhaps you remember when there was only radio? We could go on and on, and these examples are all from the same era just following the implementation of electric technology, baby steps in applications of electricity.

In 1995, my friends and I started a web page business in South Florida. I gave seminars describing what the Internet was, and how a webpage could help their business, and my two computer pals wrote the code. We had lots of people come to our seminars to learn about this new “internet thing”, but not one person bought a webpage from us. It was just too new, and people weren’t ready to engage in it. Fifteen years later, who doesn’t have a webpage?

McLuhan shows how the content of a new technology is always the old technology. It’s rearview-mirror thinking keeps us calling our computer screen “a desktop”. Most likely, we’ll be calling our cold fusion cells that provide power to our homes “water burners”.

Since the integration of electric technology, the landscape has changed drastically, such that our institutions of education, entertainment, justice, and economy have had the proverbial rug pulled out from under their feet. Our ideas of money have changed so that we don’t even recognize it anymore. Our ideas of friends have changed, our sense of time, our sense of reality.

A cold fusion technology won’t retrofit a jet with a steam engine (although that may be someone’s pet project for nostalgia), and it won’t be our dominant form of transportation. The designs of planes accommodate gasoline and are part of the oil environment of services and disservices. Cold fusion technology will see, perhaps, semi-ballistic sub-orbital flights, more efficient, faster, and greener.

Still, the digital revolution was built using cheap oil, and was yet another incremental step on the road to complexity that began when humans discovered fire, allowed only by burning higher energy dense fuels. Solar cells and wind turbines are great, but the amount of hydrocarbons and rare earth metals required to manufacture, ship and maintain these systems prohibits their widespread use as the dominant form of energy in a technological society. Will we be chopping all of forests down to provide a minimal, and temporary, supply of fuel?

“Breakthrough technology” jumps this track, and realizes a completely different associative power. Mr. Ruppert is right. There is no magic bullet. Lapband surgery may reduce obesity, but only the associative change in mental habits will keep it that way. McLuhan shows how, and why, our associated mental habits change along with our technology.

Cold fusion is a new area of energy research only two decades old, but already has proven advances that promise a new energy technology, perhaps sooner than we think. Inventor Andrea Rossi is claiming that he’ll be selling his ECat water heaters based on cold fusion technology in the fall of this year 2011. Many claims have been made, and only time will tell if Dr. Rossi and his Defkalion Green Technologies will become the richest people on the planet.

-or perhaps it will be someone else.

For there are a number of small, independent companies, started by new-energy entrepreneurs and young scientists, that don’t have the prejudices that the established institutions have. These groups have worked without support or recognition, with piecemeal funding from friends, family, and private angels who believe in them, and a clean energy future for humanity.

McLuhan tells us “obsolete technology is elevated to artform”. What was of this age, will be art, and what is not art, will be our shame.

Monitoring the landscape for collapse has value.

Helping people build lifeboats for a dark decade has value.

WHAT IS THE NEW COSMOLOGY?

In 1543 Copernicus announced to a startled Europe that the Earth was not stationary, but was sailing rapidly through space as it spun around the Sun. This was difficult news to take in all at once, but over time the Europeans reinvented their entire civilization in light of this strange new fact about the Universe. Dear friend:

I am almost always reluctant to send out another message about the looming challenges and recurring bad news we face in trying to create a peaceful, sustainable and just future on Earth. This time it feels different because of the urgency of the situation, and a new opportunity we have to do something about it. My good friend and fellow "elder" Terry Tillman and I will be hosting a new educational experiment in social activism and transformational education here at Montesueños next month and we hope you can join us.

Derrick Jensen, whose works you may have read, is a radical environmental author (e.g., "Endgame") whose passion for nature I deeply resonate with. I agree with him that humanity has gone way too far in its short-sighted rampage, and we'll need a paradigm shift away from the greed and violence that keeps us away from true sustainability.

But we can't get there if we collectively keep going in the direction we're taking. Jensen clearly sees half the picture--the environmental mandate to change our ways. But because of our ignorance, the other half is more elusive yet very much achievable--how can we extricate ourselves from the mess some of us in power have created and begin a new system of governance and innovation?

To those ends, I've recently co-founded the Global Innovation Alliance, which will be researching, developing and integrating truly sustainable technologies that could replace our dirty energy and other unsavory practices worldwide. I've also recently been appointed as U.N. director for Ecuador affairs in renewable energy, which will hopefully help us convert from oil here.

From decades of study and experimenting, I'm convinced that socially responsible, economically viable and radically clean innovation will help us find the way out of our mess and soon. The only thing holding us back is our ignorance and apathy. We see the dead canaries everywhere--the oil spills, rampant pollution, climate change, deforestation, wars, etc. But if we only look up, we can also begin to see flying pigs coaxing us to look outside the box for our solutions.

Ecuador is full of dead canaries--for example, the Chevron-Texaco oil spill in the Amazon which is bigger than the Exxon-Valdez spill, the leasing of oil and mining leases all over the rain forest, and the threats to Yasuni National Park, one of the the most pristine, bio diverse habitats for wildlife and indigenous nations. We also have some flying pigs here: a new Constitution that uniquely provides for the rights of nature and of the indigenous nations, and the invitation to the international community to match funds with Ecuador in terms of potential lost revenues to keep the oil in the ground in the Yasuni-ITT block.

The unprecedented workshop Terry and I will be facilitating will educate, awaken and activate ourselves into being the true agents for change, a potential which is inside each of us. This isn't just another workshop in personal growth. This time, after thirty years, Terry and I reunite to teach a one-of-a-kind motivating experience for us all.

This for the altruistic higher self in you that knows the giving and serving are their own reward.

This is for those of you who have children, and possibly grandchildren, and find a visceral concern about the legacy and conditions we may be leaving them.

And this is for those of you who experience frustration, and even anger, and are tiring enough of the outside and inside negativity to want to contribute something positive--to yourself, as well as others, the planet and the future.

My most successful best friend Dave frequently says to me, "Terry, I still don't have a job." So, this is for those who know that work can be play and fun, or for those who what to experience and learn that.

We've chosen to move beyond my concern, complaining, criticism and upset and move my focus to service, solution and positive possibility in those areas that are my levels of concern.

Why Ecuador, and Montesueños?

Most don't know that some of the seminal work in the areas of environmental sustainability, social justice and spiritual fulfillment are taking place in Ecuador, outside the distorting lens of today's media.

Some of earth's last remaining untouched pristine environments and isolated indigenous populations are found in the Amazon jungle and Andes Mountains of Ecuador. And some of the most painful damage done by extraction industries has been done in Ecuador--So it's a perfect setting for the profound, inspiring, deeply moving and galvanizing work we will be experiencing.

Ecuador recently rewrote its constitution and included rights for flora and fauna--the first, and only, country to do so. So far.

Ecuador is the first nation to begin experimenting with a new system of commerce and trade that isn't based on debt. They're testing it parallel to their dollar economy. Some of you know that the financial and economic challenges faced by almost all countries on the planet today have a source in our debt-based fiat monetary systems. The quantity C is actually the kinetic energy equivalent of the mass energy of matter. In other words, if we take a gram (or any other quantity of matter: Newtonian mass) and convert that matter gradually into energy according to the formula E = MC2, and the resultant energy, as it appeared, were constantly applied to the remaining matter in such a way as to accelerate it uniformly in a given direction, when all the matter had been so converted we would find that we had zero Newtonian mass, infinite inertial mass and a resultant velocity equal to the quantity C, or approximately 3x10(10) centimeters per second (with respect to the given reference or starting point). The maximum velocity attained would always be the same regardless of the quantity of matter with which we started.

About the year 1905, Einstein brought to our attention that the factors of Gravity, Space, Time, and Energy were not the absolute and independent entities that we had always considered them to be, but that they were variable factors, each having a value which depended upon the value of the others. The natural laws are not absolute, but relative. That is, the size and shape of the curve of one law is dependent upon the value and position of the others.

The shape of the gravitational curve is modified not only by the mass present but also by the number and position of the electrical charges, referring not only to the charges in the outer shell of the atom but to those within as well, and especially to the fact, not always realized, that the neutron possesses both a positive and a negative charge, although when united within the neutron they are not discernable as charges, but exist as energy which produces the gravitational field. When a better understanding of the laws is acquired, we will be able to produce any shape of curve we desire within the variable and interdependent factors of space, time, mass, matter, energy, and gravity through the common denominator of vibration/frequency.

In short, the quantity C is the measure of the radius of curvature of natural law. It is the factor which will enable us to determine precisely the degree of change in the curvature of one law which will be brought about by a specified change in the application of the others. It is the factor which will eventually tell us how to place our transport vehicles in either the positive or negative portion of the gravitational curve with respect to the earth or any other planet which we may choose to visit.

When we state that the quantity C is the radius of the curvature of natural law, we mean simply that if a differential of energy equal to this quantity exists between the observer and the point which he is observing, the natural laws will be suspended. With a new year and new decade upon us, just saying Happy New Year while Americans lose their homes and go hungry is an extremely deficit, & defunct statement. However, Let's Make This a Happy and Wonderful New Year truly sounds like something attainable as we acknowledge our expanding Window to Reality.

A brief review and summary of my background and the role science, specifically the science of Light and Energy, play in humanities' evolutionary survival and self-actualization stages with their possibilities follow.

My own six month heightened awareness (in the old days termed ‘cosmic consciousness’ state) at FIT, removed any shred of doubt of the illusory and magical nature of our universe, with Reality totally connected to the roots of religions, metaphysics, and the sciences. There is no dissecting the One with ".... I gots mine too bad you did not get yours", while the ‘I’ continues to support the systems that keep the majority in uneducated and science deprived poverty.

Self Interest does NOT automatically become community interest as Kuhn claimed, which the ‘rise and fall’ of civilizations testify.

I also excitedly deny the claim that there is no intelligent life on earth, that we are here to forever keep repeating a broken record, never moving forward to the infinite trillions of new challenges and learning adventures awaiting us, once we pass by this crude and elementary stage of greed, suppression and power we keep repeating.

While ‘forgiveness’ is a necessary, but insufficient condition to evolutionary survival & enlightenment, humanity will reconsider more balanced options that rites of passage used to teach.

And in this magical Universe of God/Mind, the only training arena is in the physical manifestation (this disappearing, reappearing constant Now Universe) within which we participate in co-creating. (of course, as in fractals, there is a larger cyclic evolution/involution of the manifest universe after eons of time referenced by Eastern Teachings and the Bhagavad Gita).

My mentor’s 1970 Lecture that follows, incorporates two subjects, which at first glance, may seem to be far apart both in time and basic nature. However, both subjects have roots in antiquity. And as we shall see, the one becomes the only adequate and logical explanation of the other.

The science of metaphysics has always had a deep interest in, and respect for, the crystal, because of the many references in ancient language to its unique nature and remarkable properties. It has only been in the past few years, however, that the crystal has begun to find its rightful place in the progress of the more conventional sciences.

The chemist of course, has always had a certain special interest in the crystal because it represents the only completely natural assembly of atoms or molecules, each one of which has settled exactly into its proper spot in the solid crystal from the saturated liquid in which the crystal grows. Thus the finished structure becomes one of great regularity and considerable beauty as most of our precious jewels and gem stones demonstrate.

It was not, however, until the scientist began to apply various forms of energy and forces to the crystal that its true importance began to be realized, although it is as yet far from being completely understood.

Because the crystal is a solid in which each particle is exactly in its natural place, it constitutes a matrix of precisely balanced forces and fields. Any application of force to the crystal will therefore result in the generation of energy, and conversely, any application of energy will result in the generation of force.

In the dusty archives of our most ancient historical records, it is recorded that beneath the left forepaw of the great Sphinx at Giza in Egypt, there is a sealed compartment in which have been stored whole volumes of the scientific records of the past, together with the samples of scale models of many of its devices and artifacts.

Unfortunately, I can only recount here what has been written because I have not as yet been able to verify these accounts by personal inspection.

During the course of our last investigative tour of Egypt, we were permitted to examine the exterior of the Sphinx as carefully as we wished, but there was no opportunity for digging. I can report, however, that certain definite and repeatable deviations of the needle of the compass which I carried, did indicate strongly that a considerable quantity of magnetic, or at least magnetically permeable material, was indeed located beneath the surface in the immediate vicinity of the left forepaw.

From those records of the lost civilization that are still available, we can learn something of the tremendous powers inherent in the crystal. And in our own laboratories, we are working sometimes almost feverishly to rediscover and to put into operation the same powers and abilities that our ancient ancestors used so widely and so effectively.

Our present laser systems are, as we have pointed out, one of the tangible results of such efforts. The output of the ruby crystal in a laser system is probably quite similar to that of the drillstick of which so much has been written in the ancient records except, of course, that the drillstick employed a somewhat simpler and more compact system than any of those which we have yet been able to produce. Although with our rapid advance in miniaturization, we should soon begin to approach the results obtained by our remote ancestors.

In the hands of a supreme ruler who was the only person permitted to possess or to use the brillstick, it represented total authority since it contained the power of life or death to the laser like beam which it emitted. The crystals produced by present day science are quite limited in size, and their shape is determined almost entirely by the nature of the electrical fields within the molecules of which they are composed.

The Atlanteans, however, had no such limitations. By growing their crystals within an area of precisely controlled exterior electrical and magnetic fields, they could cause a crystal to continue to grow almost indefinitely and to take on any one of a number of predetermined shapes.

These huge crystals they then incorporated into devices and systems, which, while they were relatively simple compared to some of our present technology were still capable of performing functions which would certainly cause our best scientists to stare in awe and wonder, probably mixed with a liberal amount of ego saving skepticism of that which they were seeing.

Tremendous forces acting over great distances could readily be produced. When we bounce our tiny laser beams off the surface of the moon and record the return signal after its 480,000 mile round trip journey, we are taking the first few childlike steps in the redevelopment of the Atlantean art.

Substantial changes could be brought about in the electrical, the magnetic, and even in the gravitational fields over rather large areas, and significant changes in the time field could be created in local areas by the huge crystal controlled systems of the Atlanteans.

He named the continent Atlantis, which is simply the plural form of Atlas, the titan of Greek mythology who was said to stand at the western extremity of the earth near the islands of the Hesperides upholding the heavens with his shoulders. There is no evidence however, that even Plato realized that the very mythology of the titans from which he borrowed the name Atlantis was in fact the unwritten history, handed down through the centuries of the race of all powerful titans of the continent of Poseidon who commanded forces so great that they could indeed control the heavens at will.

We cannot fail to note, however, that the western extremity of the known earth was at that time about the center of what we now know as the Atlantic Ocean and from which the continent of Atlantis once rose. We must also remember that Poseidon, the brother of Atlas, and the god of the sea, was said to dwell in the same locality in a huge and magnificent palace at the bottom of the sea from which he occasionally rose to vent his wrath upon those who defied or ignored him.

In the late Edgar Casey’s book on Atlantis mention is made of the all powerful crystal systems. On page 86 we find the following words: “In Posedia the entity dwelt among those that had charge of the ‘motivative’ forces from the great crystals that so condensed the light and the forms of activity as to guide the ships in the sea and in the air”.

Again on page 87 we read: “In Atlantean land, at the time of the development of the electrical forces that dealt with transportation of craft from place to place, overcoming gravity itself, to preparations of the crystal, the terrible, the mighty crystal, much of this later brought destruction” end of quote.

Apparently some of these systems made use of energy accumulators coupled to natural energy sources and were designed to operate automatically when triggered by some specific and predetermined stimulus. They required no human control or maintenance and were practically immune and impervious to time or to the conditions of their environment.

At least two, and probably more of these periodically operating devices are apparently still in operation, and still performing their designed function after some thousands of years of immersion in the Atlantic Ocean.

When the continent of Atlantis or Poseidon descended into these depths, it took with it not only a whole nation of people, but also some of the most remarkable technology ever created upon this planet. Because they worked with the natural laws instead of using one to oppose or overcome another as we have fallen into the habit of doing, their systems were on the whole somewhat simpler and less bulky than ours, and yet they were capable of producing results which we are not yet able to duplicate, or in some cases even to understand.

Not only was this civilization aware of the many huge spaceships which had for countless generation cruised the galaxy, but it had established firm commercial relations with the galactic foundation. And the sale or barter of material and supplies to those ships whose course took them near to the earth had become one of the nation’s most profitable industries.

The transportation of these materials and supplies between the earth and the spaceship, did however, present some problems and difficulties because of the intense resonating fields produced by the propulsion systems of the huge ships and the tremendous degree of ionization that would be created in any atmosphere through which they moved, it was not practical for them to approach closer than a few hundred miles to the earth’s surface. And no matter how the lifting was done, the earth’s gravitational field still exacted a tremendous toll of energy from the transfer operation.

To solve this problem, several crystal driven and controlled systems were developed which were capable of creating the effect of an almost complete warp in the space between the earth and the spaceship when the ship was directly above the system. The electrical and magnetic fields present were not greatly affected, although their direction was changed. But the time and the space factors between the earth and the spacecraft became practically zero. Material and supplies placed within the conveying chamber or area could then immediately be transferred to the hold of the ship.

While this concept may at first glance be somewhat difficult to grasp or accept and while it may appear to be in violation of several of our currently cherished laws of science, it really is not at all. In the change of location, the energy of position offsets the gravitational loss and all laws of conservation are upheld and satisfied.

We have been too much in the habit of assuming that if an object is to change from one location to another, that is, if it is to cease to occupy point A, and instead occupy some other point B, it must in the process occupy, momentarily, all possible points between the two. This idea is not, however, a necessity of thought, nor is it a law of nature. It is in fact, simply a habit of thought which has resulted from the fact that objects which we observe in motion almost always follow this pattern.

For example, if we place a number of sheets of paper at various distances between a rifle and the target at which it is aimed, when the bullet has left the gun and reached the target we will find a hole in each piece of paper indicating that the bullet had occupied that point during some part of its motion. All of our laws of ballistics are based upon this principle and the exceptions to these laws, that is the cases where an object ceases to occupy one point and simultaneously begins to occupy some other point without having occupied any of the points between are so rare and so difficult to observe or demonstrate that it is much simpler for science to ignore or to deny them than to make any effort to explain.

Somewhere off the coast of Florida under many fathoms of water, one of these Atlantean crystal driven systems apparently still exists and still performs at least some of its original functions. Powered by accumulators drawing their energy from natural sources, and unaffected by time or its surroundings it still springs into action when triggered by a specific impulse or signal and still goes through its designed task of transporting any solid state matter within its range from its original location to some unknown to us and probably remote point x.

Since there are no detail descriptions of this device available to us, we can gain more knowledge of it only through a careful and complete study of its performance and its effects upon other objects during those brief but fateful periods when it comes into operation and thereby manifests its properties and its effects to us.

Since there have been many such demonstrations which are well documented, some of them in rather precise detail and since they continued to occur at relatively frequent intervals quite a substantial body of dependable fact and detail exists to furnish a fairly sound basis for such a study.

To describe in detail the many separate events that have occurred in this area and which can only be adequately explained by the operation of the Atlantean device would require several hours. The records fill a number of folders in my own research files and the specific date it continues to accumulate. It covers a period of more than one hundred and fifty years and it involves the area commonly known as the Bermuda Triangle, although it is usually defined geographically as being roughly a square bounded on the north by a line stretching from Bermuda to the Virginia coast and on the south by the islands of Cuba and Espanola.

This stretch of ocean dotted with a few islands which are the only visible remnants of the Atlantean continent has been the scene of more unconventional and inexplicable disappearances than any equivalent area on earth. In the last century alone forty two ships and twenty seven planes for which well documented records exist have sailed into this area and simply vanished without warning and without a trace.

Ships or planes lost to storms, fire or other normal hazards are not counted in this list. They are all cases where no distress call was sounded, the weather was moderate, and in spite of the widest possible search and rescue operations, no wreckage, no debris, no survivors and not even an oil slick was ever found.

A few examples of these ships are: the Swedish owned Lotta, which disappeared in 1866; the Spanish merchantman, Viego, in 1868; the British training ship, Atalanta, in 1880; the Italian schooner, Miramon, in 1884; and the American collier Cyclops, in March of 1918. Similar disappearances have occurred every two or three years since then and will undoubtedly continue to occur in the future unless the exact location of the events can be determined and those spots avoided.

Attempts have been made to explain the loss of these ships as being due to mid-ocean earthquakes, or seaquakes, which might raise sudden waves as high as several hundreds of feet. Such waves might swallow a ship so suddenly and completely that there would be no time for distress calls or the launching of lifeboats.

The Tsunami theory is however, like many other attempted explanations in that it raises other questions even more difficult than those which it attempts to answer. In the first place, a tsunami or tidal wave, once it has been created, rolls on and on with little loss of height or energy until it encounters some land surface. A two hundred foot wave generated anywhere in the Bermuda Triangle would still be at least one hundred to one hundred and fifty feet high when it reached the Florida coast where it would then proceed to roll over about half of the state destroying everything in its path.

Also, we are faced with the necessity of explaining the equally abrupt vanishing of some twenty seven or more airplanes in mid-flight and it is exceedingly difficult to imagine a wave high enough to snatch up an airplane flying at ten thousand feet.

One of the most significant, and by far the best documented cases of plane disappearances is of course that of flight 19 consisting of five TBM avenger bombers, which on December 5th,1945 took off on a routine patrol flight from the US naval air station at Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Most premid reports state that the weather was clear and the flying conditions excellent. My personal perusal of the weather reports for that day as printed in the Fort Lauderdale newspapers indicate that there were a few broken clouds and a small amount of wind. However there were certainly no weather conditions which would endanger a short routine patrol of this kind.

The flight leader’s plane had a crew of two, while the remaining four planes carried three men each. The lead plane’s third man had reported sick that morning and so was not on the flight. All of the fourteen pilots and crewmen had flight and navigation experience ranging from thirteen months to six years. The planes were expected to make a triangular patrol flying east for one hundred and sixty miles, then north for forty miles, and then directly back to base at Fort Lauderdale, a total flight time of about one hour and forty five minutes.

The flight took off at 2:00 PM and by 3:45 PM they were expected to call the tower for landing instructions. But the message actually received at that time was anything but a routine one. “This is an emergency”, this is an emergency” it said in part. And even with radio distortion there was an unnerving fear noticeable in the flight leader’s voice. When asked for his position, he replied, “We’re not sure of our position, we can’t be sure where we are, we don’t know”. When told to assume a bearing of due west, the flight leader replied “we cannot be sure which way is west, we cannot be sure of any direction, everything is wrong, everything is strange, the ocean doesn’t look as it should”. By this time the sun was nearing the western horizon, and when the tower operator, half jokingly, half sarcastically, suggested they head for the setting sun since it usually sets in the west, or had they forgotten that, the flight leader replied that neither clouds nor sun were visible in the strange sky through which they were flying.

For nearly thirty minutes thereafter, the tower could hear the planes talking to each other. It was obvious that none of the five pilots or any of the nine crewmen had any idea of their position, even though all of them were experienced in aerial navigation, and it was completely incredible that all navigation instruments and all compasses could fail on all five of the planes simultaneously. The overheard conversation showed increasing signs of fear and hysteria among the five pilots. Then without prior warning, the flight leader abruptly turned over the flight command to another plane. This in itself was a most unusual act, and one which usually occurs only under the most desperate of emergencies.

At about 4:15 PM the control tower received its last message from the flight. It said, “We are not certain where we are, must be about 225 miles northeast of base, it looks like we are” the message broke off at that point instantly and completely. Immediately thereafter, a Martin flying boat with full rescue equipment and a crew of thirteen men was dispatched to search for the missing flight and to rescue the dazed pilots who with all of the navigation equipment to be found in military bombing planes still couldn’t find west.

The rescue plane gave several routine radio reports and then lapsed into silence. Neither this plane nor any of the original five bombers were ever heard from again nor was any sign of them ever found in spite of one of the largest air and sea rescue searches in American history.

The aircraft carrier Solomons was in the vicinity and by mid afternoon of the next day, many ships and over three hundred planes had joined the search. Not a single item of wreckage or debris from any of the six planes was ever seen, even though the Martin flying boat was designed to land upon the ocean, and because it was used for marine rescue service, had aboard life preservers, rafts, and literally hundreds of items which would rise to the surface of the ocean and continue to float indefinitely no matter how hard the plane had hit the water.

The navy, after an exhaustive investigation of the incident in which a total of twenty seven lives had presumably been lost was unable to come up with any solution. Their report stated simply, we are not even able to make a good guess as to what happened.

A little more than two years later, on January 29th, 1948, a four engine commercial airliner belonging to the British South American Airways Company with thirty four passengers and a crew of six were in route to Kingston, Jamaica.. The weather was clear and mild. At 10:30 PM a routine report was made to the control tower at Bermuda. This was the last message ever received from this airliner. No evidence was ever found that would indicate a crash into the ocean or elsewhere. No wreckage, no oil slick, no debris of any kind was ever located. The big plane with a total of forty persons aboard had simply vanished.

Again on January 7th, 1949, one year later, another four engine airline, also belonging to the British South American Airways with seven crewmen and thirteen passengers took off from Bermuda bound for Jamaica at 7:30 AM in excellent weather. At 8:15 AM there was a routine report and then silence. As in the previous case, no sign of wreckage, plane or passengers was ever found.

As in the previous cases, a thorough investigation of the above cases could only report that the planes had, quote, “ presumably been lost at sea”, unquote, an undeniable premise but not very enlightening.

In January of 1960 a convoy of five planes was in route from Puerto Rico to New York when two of the planes suddenly disappeared in fair weather and without having given any signs of distress. They had been flying at some distance from the remaining three but well within visual range. Again, no sign of planes or their crew was ever found.

These are but four of the documented cases, but the balance of them are so similar as to seem like carbon copies of these. In every case they involve planes flying in mild weather in level flight and with no known problems yet suddenly they were no longer there. The total number of planes that have vanished in this manner can only be guessed at since no genuinely coordinated effort has ever been made to assemble all of even the known cases. And of course the loss of smaller planes could and almost certainly would be attributed to engine failure, lack of fuel, radio malfunction or other more readily understood causes.

It would seem therefore that the transportation device driven by the huge crystals performs its function equally well whether the object on which it acts is in the air, upon the surface or beneath it.

There have been half hearted efforts by several departments of the federal government to probe the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle. In January 1946, a group of naval intelligence officers were ordered by President Truman to form a central intelligence group which became the forerunner of the CIA. In the spring of 1946 this central intelligence group participated in a series of secret hearings in Washington DC in which the wives and relatives of the missing Flight 19 were flown to Washington to attend the meeting.

Since that time, most of those involved have refused to discuss the matter at all. But the mother of one of the missing flyers has said that she thought her son was still alive, perhaps somewhere in space. In 1965 and 1966, the National Bureau of Standards undertook a project in which special microphones capable of picking up sounds above the audible range were installed off the coast of Florida, and while some results were reportedly obtained no conclusions have yet been announced.

In an interview in 1968, a spokesman for the Coastguard’s Search and Rescue branch said, “Quite frankly we don’t know what is happening in this so called Bermuda Triangle. All we can do about these unexplainable disappearances is to speculate”. The navy is trying to get to the bottom of the mystery with a project called Project Magnet, in which they are investigating the electromagnetic, gravitational, and atmospheric disturbances. Some experts think that some such disturbance might have disintegrated those planes in 1945. A ship in the area reported sighting a large ball of fire in the skies which could of course also have meant a midair collision, but that’s exceedingly unlikely among five planes all flying together. The fact is we have no real opinions.

If the Atlantean device is indeed the answer to the endless chains of disappearances the destination to which all of these planes, ships and the submarine were transported can only be a matter of speculation since we have never had a report from any of the crews or passengers of the missing vehicles. It could perhaps be another planet, another dimension, or another frequency. But until some of those who were transported find a way to return through the same gate through which they left we can only guess.

While the total number of vanished ships and planes may be far greater than anyone realizes, it is still fairly obvious that the transporting mechanism is operative only at certain points, at certain times, and under certain conditions. For example, it might be triggered only by a certain minimum size mass passing directly over the sensing device. The system would probably be operative only within a certain area above the device. This would explain why only two of a flight of five planes vanished while the other three which were flying just outside the radius of the area were untouched and unaffected. In the case of the five TBM Bombers, all of them chanced to be within the radius of activity when the system was triggered.

Note that, as I mentioned in the beginning, the electrical and magnetic fields are relatively unchanged by the action of the device therefore the pilots of the five planes were able to continue radio communication with the control tower so long as the device continued to produce and maintain the space warp. The planes were no longer really on earth, nor had they really left it, although the rising degree of panic and hysteria which developed among the normally calm and experienced pilots showed their awareness that something strange and totally inexplicable had happened to them. When the device shut off and no longer produced the warp, the pilots and their planes were instantly and completely at the remote end of the transportation system, wherever that might have been and their communication was instantly cut off.

In most of the other instances it seems that the pilots did not become aware that anything dangerous was happening until it was too late for radio communication. If it were possible to compile a comprehensive list of all such events within the area together with all of the known data surrounding each event, it might be possible with the aid of a computer to derive valid or at least very probable conclusions concerning the location or locations of activity, the nature of the device, its active periods, and the mechanism by which it is triggered.

But since it is very unlikely that the possibility of such advanced systems can or will be accepted even in theory by our present day science, it is improbable that any comprehensive list will ever be made or studied by any official agency, even though the events will probably continue to occur at frequent intervals.

Thus the great mystery of the Bermuda Triangle is likely to remain just a growing mystery until we begin to develop similar systems in our own technology, or until the land upon which the present one is built rises again above the ocean surface.

Antimatter is destroyed whenever it collides with matter, turning both into bursts of electromagnetic radiation. Scientists believe this process was crucial to the fiery creation of the universe billions of years ago. Why so little antimatter is made now in nature remains one of physics' great dilemmas. Only modest levels have been detected in cosmic ray showers and the nuclei of distant galaxies. Antimatter is difficult to make in the lab, too. Giant particle accelerators at CERN and Fermilab near Chicago specialize in the quest. In the first antimatter experiments a few years ago, only dozens of short-lived antimatter particles were created.

Hydrogen, the most abundant element, consists of an electron orbiting a proton. Antihydrogen is the exact opposite; a positron -- an electron with a positive charge -- orbiting an antiproton, or a proton with a negative charge. In the latest experiments, ATHENA researchers used the CERN accelerator to create antiprotons and electromagnetically trapped them in a vacuum chamber. A radioactive source, meanwhile, was used to create positrons, which were held in a separate trap. The antiprotons were then fed into the pool of positrons, where the two combined to form antihydrogen. The antimatter was short-lived; Hangst said it was annihilated when it bumped into normal matter. Detectors picked up the unique signatures of antimatter as it was destroyed, he said. Using antimatter to power a starship or create a weapon, meanwhile, is still in the realm of science fiction, he said. Making antiprotons requires 10 billion times more energy than it produces. For example, the antimatter produced each year at CERN could power a 100 watt light bulb for 15 minutes, Hangst said.

The National Ignition Facility: Ushering in a New Age for Science The world's largest and highest-energy laser was formally dedicated on May 29, 2009. In 2010, NIF will begin experiments that will focus the intense energy of 192 giant laser beams on a BB-sized target filled with hydrogen fuel. NIF's goal is to fuse the hydrogen atoms' nuclei and produce net energy gain – the same fusion energy process that makes stars shine and provides the life-giving energy of the sun. Scientists have been working to achieve self-sustaining nuclear fusion and energy gain in the laboratory for more than half a century. When the National Ignition Facility (NIF) begins ignition experiments at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in 2010, that long-sought goal will be much closer to realization.
NIF's 192 giant lasers, housed in a ten-story building the size of three football fields, will deliver at least 60 times more energy than any previous laser system. When all of its beams are fully operational, NIF will focus nearly two million joules of ultraviolet laser energy on a tiny target in the center of its target chamber – creating conditions similar to those that exist only in the cores of stars and giant planets and inside a nuclear weapon. The resulting fusion reaction will release many times more energy than the laser energy required to initiate the reaction.

Once the equation E=MC2 is understood, and you write that it was brought to light over a 100 years ago, frames of reference, inertial frames, transformation of co-ordinates, translation relativity should have gone out the door, with the 3D flat space, flat time concepts joining the outdated flat earth concept, and substituted by their equivalent representations, degrees of energy differentials.

Here's the good news for all those "Star Trek" enthusiasts out there -- a couple of physicists think they've figured out how to travel faster than the speed of light without breaking the laws of physics.
But here's the bad news -- we may have to sacrifice Jupiter to get there.
Gerald Cleaver, associate professor of physics at Baylor University, and his post-doctoral researcher, Richard Obousy, have combined some of the most elusive fields in physics, including string theory and general relativity, to concoct a scheme to move "Star Trek's" warp speed a little closer to reality. Very little, that is.
The folks who produce the "Star Trek" flicks have never explained how the good ship Enterprise can speed through the universe faster than a beam of light. That minor achievement is necessary if humans are ever to explore the galaxy's back yard, not to mention the distant reaches of the universe.
The only problem is Albert Einstein said it couldn't be done.
"Objects that have mass cannot travel at the speed of light," Cleaver said in an interview. According to Einstein's famous equation, "as an object travels faster and faster, its mass increases," he added. "As an object approaches the speed of light its mass becomes infinite."
'Warp Bubble' Needed for Interstellar Travel
In other words, a speck of dust traveling at the speed of light would have infinite mass, and it would take an infinite amount of energy to get it moving anywhere near that fast. So that pretty well knocks humans off the passenger list on the Starship Enterprise.
Not so fast, say Cleaver and Obousy, who have expanded upon a theory first proposed in 1994 by Michael Alcubierre, a Mexican physicist. Never mind warp drive, Alcubierre declared, what we really need for interstellar travel is a warp bubble. Alcubierre theorized that mass may be limited by Einstein's calculations, but that doesn't necessarily apply to space.
It might be possible, the Baylor researchers contend, to expand space behind a vehicle, say the Enterprise, and shrink space in front of it, thereby creating a bubble that could move through Einstein's space-time fabric at speeds much greater than the speed of light.
Surfing a Wave, Space-Time Style
The craft would ride inside the bubble as the bubble moved through space, but the craft itself would remain stationary, thus avoiding that little problem suggested by Einstein. Cleaver, who earned his doctorate at the California Institute of Technology, in the heart of surfing country, likens it to "surfing a wave."
But how does one create such a bubble? At this point, the story gets a little complicated.
The universe, which includes all sorts of stuff with mass, is itself expanding at speeds greater than the speed of light. We've known that since the 1970s, Cleaver said.
A fraction of a second after the Big Bang, the universe began expanding faster than the speed of light "in a very, very short time because if it had not we would not have seen the overall very, very uniform temperature cross the universe in all directions."
Throwing in a little string theory (the current rage among physicists who are searching for a reliable theory of everything) Cleaver said the universe "grew from something a billionth of a trillionth the size of the nucleus of an atom to about the size of a basketball," during its first second. "When it did that, space itself was expanding faster than the speed of light."
Replicating the Early Seconds of the Universe
Cleaver, who studied under the legendary John Schwartz at Caltech, a leader in string theory, postulated that it might be possible to partially replicate that early second by manipulating positive and negative dark energy, believed to be the driving forces behind the expansion of the universe.
Put positive energy behind the spacecraft, and negative energy in front of the spacecraft, and that should propel the craft along at warp speed.
"Space in front of the ship is shrinking faster than the speed of light, and behind it, space is expanding faster than the speed of light," and that should push the bubble along with the ship inside, "just like riding a wave."
But how do you do that? Not all the answers are in yet, but the Baylor pair theorizes that with enough energy, it might be possible to alter the 11th dimension, a key part of string theory, which maintains that there are far more than the three dimensions we common folk see on earth.
Converting Jupiter Into Energy?
With enough energy, the "space-time dimension" in front of and behind the Starship Enterprise could at least start the bubble on its way, Cleaver suggested.
"The initial energy required would be on a par with the total mass of Jupiter," he said. "If you could convert Jupiter into energy," the bubble could be launched.
But it would probably require much more energy to stabilize the system and keep the bubble moving toward an infinite number of other universes, according to string theory, that are so far away their light has not reached us yet, and thus cannot be seen.
Cleaver admits he doesn't expect to see that happen.
"This is purely a theoretical discussion of how the Alcubierre effect could theoretically be achieved through string theory," he said.
But there's a few more problems. Scientists are at odds with each other over whether string theory should even be considered science.
Many maintain that the theory cannot be proved, or disproved, as far as is known, so it isn't science. Others hold out hope that some very expensive machines in the future may verify, or debunk, the theory.
So the Starship Enterprise is coasting through very thin air, to say the least. Even if it could travel at near the speed of light, it would take more than four years to reach the nearest star beyond our solar system, and hundreds of years to reach very many stars that could have planets with life.
But "Star Trek" is a movie, after all. It doesn't have to be based on facts. Besides, how many Jupiters can we spare?

More specifically unbelievable in lieu of your referencing the half understood zero point, Tesla, electrogravitics, cold fusion and countless other "over-unity" concepts, all which are far more easily defined, designed, and precisely engineered with the radius of curvature fundamental - light - which also is our ability to see and correctly interpret Reality. Two decades ago, B. Stanley Pons left, and Martin Fleischmann, displayed a large-scale model of the flask in which they said they created sustained nuclear fusion reactions at room temperature. But their results later were dismissed by other scientists. Nuclear fusion normally takes place in extremely hot conditions and is the process that powers the sun, photographed, at right, on Monday, April 7, 1997 by the Extreme ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (EIT) on board the joint European Space Agency-NASA Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO).
Cold fusion? Limitless energy on a table top? Wait a minute. Wasn't that discredited 20 years ago?
It was, in fact, 20 years ago last month that two scientists, Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons, announced they had created nuclear fusion at room temperature. They created the popular equivalent of an H-bomb explosion -- an explosion that quickly was snuffed out when other scientists said no fusion had taken place.
But a few researchers continue to work on it.
A team of researchers, led by Pamela Boss of the U.S. Navy and Lawrence Forsley of the technology firm JWK International, reported evidence that they have seen high-energy neutrons, a possible side effect of nuclear fusion, in a laboratory experiment.
'Low Energy Nuclear Reactions'
The team published its findings in a German physics journal, and presented them at a meeting of the American Chemical Society -- 20 years to the day after Fleischmann and Pons made their announcement.
"I am confident we are seeing nuclear reactions," said Forsley by telephone from San Diego, where he now does much of his work in collaboration with the Navy. "We're seeing conventional nuclear reactions in an unconventional place."
A small New Jersey firm, Energetics, also has been trying to make cold fusion reactions at its laboratory in Israel. A former surgeon, Irving Dardik, heads the effort, and has generated enough buzz (if not electricity) to be featured this weekend in a "60 Minutes" piece.
Nuclear fusion is a high-energy process -- it's the reaction that powers the sun. The sun is so hot, and there are such pressures beneath its roiling surface, that hydrogen atoms collide, or "fuse," to make helium atoms plus tremendous amounts of heat and light.
Fusion has been replicated on Earth, but only violently -- in the form of a hydrogen bomb. (It is the opposite, by the way, of the fission that happens in an atom bomb or nuclear power plant, where atoms are split to make energy.)
Cold Fusion: Getting Warmer?
If nuclear fusion could be harnessed for peaceful purposes, scientists believe, it would solve many of the world's energy problems.
They have worked at it for decades, without success. They have built large, complex, expensive devices in the laboratory to mimic the reactions that happen inside the sun. They did create tiny reactions for tiny fractions of a second, but nothing remotely practical.
Budget cuts brought much of the work to a stop, and the 1989 debacle scared many researchers away.
'It's Still Cold'
Bob Park, a physicist at the University of Maryland who has spent much of his career warning against junk science, said he was surprised cold fusion got a hearing at the American Chemical Society meeting.
"Twenty years later, it's still cold," he wrote.
But it is not the same as it was when the subject first exploded publicly in 1989.
"These people, at least some of them, look in ever greater detail where others have not bothered to look," wrote Park. "They say they find great mysteries, and perhaps they do. Is it important? I doubt it. But I think it's science."
Forsley, for one, said he's flattered that Park gave him and his colleagues as much credit as he did.
"We've got a mechanism here," he said. "Nobody's been busting us about it.
"The story is just beginning," he added. "Let's put it that way."

".....................Observing world events that consistently touch the sensitive nerve of our outdated energy base, I get the uncanny, yet secure feeling that Nature (Gaia hypothesis) somehow has an inbuilt tendency which implores us to expand our limits. Whether this survival slant towards Evolution is attained by "conscious choice" or by vast and destructive default, each with their unique consequences, appears not to deter in the least, the Gaia "system's" undeviating parameters propelling life forward toward evolutionary (sustainable and balanced) growth.................."

A note on: Darwin, Homo Evolutis, Tabula Rasa (blank Slate) versus Innate, Unconscious Instinct versus Conscious Intent, the evolutionary feedback interplay has always been, and must be, between self and environment, external and internal, one and the many....... Biotech Entrepreneur Says Human Self-Design May Replace Evolution

As we mark Charles Darwin's 200th birthday, a biotech entrepreneur has offered an eye-opening suggestion: that science is bringing us ever-closer to a time when natural selection may yield to human self-design.
In terms of conversation and controversy, we may not have seen anything yet.
The man making this proposal is Juan Enriquez, chairman and CEO of the research and investment firm Biotechonomy. He explained his provocative idea last week at the 2009 Technology, Entertainment, Design Conference in Long Beach, Calif.
To understand it, we begin with a definition. Speciation is the evolutionary process by which new biological species arise. As Darwin effectively demonstrated, this can happen as the genetic makeup of a single species evolves into two or more similar but structurally unique species. Over time, a new species develops attributes so differentiated from those of its ancestors that its genetic code no longer matches its parent. Speciation of this sort is complete when two critters, descended from a single parent, can no longer create offspring with each other. Stated differently, these two can no longer contribute and mix their genes to form a new sprout.
The origin of some speciation is clear in geographic instances, where species that have moved, or reside in regions that have undergone change, genetically adapt to the new terrain. In this case, species add characteristics that help with survival in their remodeled homes and lose those that are no longer useful.
A colorful, if annoying, example is the London Underground Mosquito, first discussed in the scientific literature in 1998. While these insects descended from surface mosquitoes, flying about overhead and sustaining themselves by biting birds, this particular pest has evolved to feed only on underground mammals, including mice, rats and, according to The Times of London, maintenance workers. Scientists have determined that these mosquitoes can no longer reproduce with their above-ground, bird-biting relatives, and thus are a truly new species.
Evolution of this sort, understandable when observing the creature's surroundings, is known as natural selection. However, other genetic changes occur for less observable reasons. These more random generational changes are described as genetic drift.
Multiple Species of Humans?
Now here is where it gets much more interesting. In his talk at TED, Enriquez said the fact that we are the only living species of humans is an anomaly -- or at least out of synch with history. Millions of years ago, there were as many as five different species of humans co-existing on the planet.
Well, hooray! Perhaps modern humans are the end-result of all evolution. Perhaps we have reached the very pinnacle of natural selection and genetic drift. On the other hand, Enriquez suggested, perhaps those are slightly arrogant conclusions.
Until now, scientists have demonstrated that genetic changes in a single species have occurred slowly, over relatively long periods of time. However, in his talk, Enriquez showed photos of human-engineered genetic experiments which have successfully "reprogrammed" one cell into becoming another, completely different cell, added extra wings to chickens, and perhaps most importantly, engineered medical replacements for defective knees, weak tendons and failing critical human organs. Enriquez suggested that these one-off experimental procedures are only the first rung on a most interesting ladder.
Once scientists and medical specialists get the hang of these procedures, which integrate cellular transformation, tissue generation, robotics and more, there's no scientific reason why the learning won't be applied on a greater scale.
Enriquez suggests that we are perhaps just around the corner from a "new and utterly unique species." This species, which he has christened Homo Evolutis, differs from any that preceded it in that it will take "direct and deliberate control over [its own] evolution."
Think about that for a minute: humans that can and will control the evolution of the species. Where is the late Michael Crichton when we need him?
These feats are not possible today -- and that's probably the good news, because there are myriad issues society needs to consider before Homo Evolutis arrives. But make no mistake, work in labs around the world guarantees that in some form or other, at some point in the perhaps-not-too-distant future, she is on her way.

Lifestyles Unlimited Sustainable? Why, pray tell, not?

The State of the World today certainly camouflages the existence of this expanding spiral of Life and Intelligence. However, we may well assume as established fact that in proportion as intelligence (including wisdom and understanding) advances, the individual ceases to be subject to a mere law of averages and has a continually increasing power of controlling the conditions of his own survival. The more we replace our mindless, unconscious choices, or lack of choices, with expanding conscious choices, the less likely are we to evidence the misery, suffering, limitations, and destruction around the globe.

Conscious Choice, in this context, is characterized by a very distinct and special flavor. It asks us how far can we see, how far are we willing to see?

It inquires of us an accounting of the dimensions and clarity of our window to reality. It is the gestalt factor which sanctions the evolutionary apex of intelligent life on this planet to rise by its own volition, replacing the default mode and its attendant drag on the time line. In fact, conscious choice and expanding viewing point are inseparable. Together they transform our choices into self-evident recognition.

Local/Global 'KISS' explanation: Beach and Grains of Sand - our actions occur at the local level, in the grains of sand; to SEE our objectives, where to go, we require an expanded Global viewpoint, the Beach Scene.

I recall an old parable about a stampeding herd of cattle heading toward a cliff. The cattle are blindfolded. It would be extremely difficult to stop them from running right off the cliff. However, if their blindfolds were removed, they would turn on their own accord.

Linear or multidimensional thinking?

To what degree do our thoughts, beliefs, and perceptions shape the world we live in?

To what degree are our limits governed by our capacity to see and understand increasingly larger segments of reality?

What cognitive processes influence the intuitive leaps, the "ah ha" experiences which accompany understanding and creativity? Are we aware of what or how we think? How do we form the attitudes that lie behind our decision making?

Theories in behavioral science predicate the mindlessness and scripted processing of much of our implied "thoughtful" action. Buddhist inner science calls for mindfulness, awareness, meditation, control and discipline of thought and action. New Thought religions point to an exact scientific relationship between individual consciousness, Universal Consciousness, and physical reality.

The foregoing previews an imposing spectrum on the nature of consciousness. On a practical level, what may these different points of view be suggesting?

Is there a simple guideline that can connect mindlessness to mindfulness? Could there exist a continuum of thought and awareness, paralleling single linear dimensions to the multidimensions of physical space (geometry, fractals, relativity, and quantum mechanics…)?

Theories in behavioral science predicate the mindlessness and scripted processing of much of our implied "thoughtful" action.

As we observe the differences in the thought processes and awareness of a child of three and a nuclear physicist (or primitive man to modern man), we readily note that there is an attribute of expansion involved, quite like the move from a point of view to a viewing point. A case in point: the thirteenth century belief of a flat earth has been replaced and refined over the centuries. The sound barrier was another frontier. Yet the familiar phrase "you cannot see the trees because of the forest" and vice versa, continues to haunt us.

What parameters of a multidimensional quality constitute the difference between the idea of "trees" and the idea of "forest"? A point of view and a viewing point? Do we think in 3-dimensional thought at all times?

What is a fourth dimension and how may it relate to a larger viewing point? Does it implicate faster than light velocity, negative gravitation? Does it involve the religious paradox how the one becomes the many, or the origin of matter, the force behind the manifestation of every material nucleus?

Is the light barrier a mathematical reality, or a misconstrued interpretation of mathematics derived from limited points of view? Can a limited point of view close the doors to an abundant, endless and healthy future?

Taboos are primitive. However, the dialogue between science and religion, required for multidimensional thinking to take place, to break out of our own self-imposed physical limits, seems to be a modern day taboo.

Somewhere between science and religion, the point of view and the viewing point, the East and the West, the child and the adult, lie answers to our conflicting and limiting theories, beliefs, and perceptions of the world and universe around us. And somewhere between the New Testament and the Old, the story is told metaphysically, about the point of view and the viewing point, cause and effect, chaos and pattern, the timeless beginning and the end, the one and the many, and multi-dimensionally, how the one is the many.

This similar story may be deciphered from almost every religion and myth around the globe. The myth of creation buried in the sands of time that crossed distances and cultures. Are these coincidental dreams and imagination, or is there a connection, a scientific relationship window, to a greater reality?

Can a bigger picture provide an improved road map, a compass, for both individual effort and the creation of a healthy, sustainable, survival pattern or order, out of chaos? Can informed choice and viewing point be Humanity’s attractor’s in chaos?

Are there any bridges that may be conceived to escape the isolated drudgery, limitations, and singularity that linear (or at best 3-D) thought alone achieves?

Contemporary psychology embraces the view that our window to reality that forms and guides our behavior and actions, is comprised of our thoughts, beliefs, desires, aims, and experiences that each of us cruise through. A major portion of our perception of reality is, to the extend that we are informed and exposed, derived from our sciences to our religious institutions, from philosophy and ethics to medicine and healing, from power and politics to our ideas of freedom, democracy and economics.

Yet, as we look at the state of the world today, it becomes apparent there is little consensus, enormous disparity and colossal constraints. Macro theories outside of their own disciplines in the hard sciences have not yet come of age. Beyond the hard sciences there exists only varied opinion and points of experience (individual and group).

The nature of Man (neutral gender), his/her purpose or evolutionary trend, even emerging global survival demands, rarely manifest beyond the institutionalized and rudimentary sustenance needs motivated by pleasure and profit, an end in itself.

Today, evidence abounds of emerging viewing points, paradigm changes within multiple disciplines, around the globe. Their direct effect on world behavior standards is clearly being seen. However a modern Myth, the design across disciplines necessary to sustain global survival, still eludes us, remaining isolated and segmented.

What is the nature of this pattern that runs across disciplines, submerged in fractals, awaiting the appropriate attractors which link chaos to order?

Let us browse through a few of the possible parameters or attractors in perception that may be implicated. We will use the flat earth example. A linear view from a single point, located near the surface of a level plain or desert, provides us, for all practical purposes, with the perception of a relatively flat terrain. Today, we can easily surmise the factors involved which created Humanity’s historical perception of a flat earth and the process by which that perception moved to a round world.

Obviously, at an elementary level, as the number, direction, position, speed, and comprehension of various points of view are extended and experienced, our window to reality becomes clearer.

Statistical numbers, expanded dimensions, velocity rates, and usable energy capacity appear to play a major role in our understanding of reality and its space-time relationships. Comunication, mobility, becomes the cohesive network that shortens space-time relations by substitution of accelerated vocal, visual and physical transmission (or transportation).

It will be noted at this point that the thought process is no longer linear. It has achieved a multidimensional status. More importantly, nothing was lost through this insight, this mode of thinking. Vast distances and eons of time may still be conceived, as well as the means by which to traverse and subdue their effect. Both multi-level views remain. Nor is individuality or identity lost as the ‘One’ begins to sense its’ simultaneous unity with the ‘many’ through a larger grasp of gravity, space, time and energy relationships to consciousness.

Here lie the hazards of linear or limited level thinking alone. Conflict, duality and separation reign absolute and depend solely upon single points of view, real only under special conditions. The case of the concave/convex curve becomes identified by one’s position, by which side of the curve the viewing is taking place. This interplay of duality, the ability to see, multidimensionally, the simultaneous unity of the local and the global, the one and the many, is incomprehensible in single and limited dimensions. Science and religion, physics and metaphysics are not seen to reside at opposite ends of the same continuum.

The question that each may contain irreplaceable components of the fundamental laws of existence, a radius of curvature of reality, of how the one becomes the many, or how time and distance may be interchanged thorough gravitational mass differentials, has not even been raised in mainstream thought.

The preceding multidimensional patterns may be further grasped through Einstenian relativity. The relative position and energy level of one reference point may now be seen to assume critical significance with respect to its relationship to any other reference point. This positional potential can reach and represent an astronomical and possible negative differential between a reference point in the micro world (nuclear) with a reference point in the macro world (between galaxies).

That this differential is explicitly tied to the formula E=MC2 and exclusively bond to the sine-wave characteristics, a radius of curvature of natural law, remains to be demonstrated.

It is time we looked into and deciphered the age-old symbol, the Tai’Chi symbol of the circle with the sine wave passing through its center. Through the use of the discoveries of modern science, the scientific method, and multidimensional thinking, we may reveal and begin to apply the resulting concept of the radius of curvature of natural law for the benefit and survival of complex civilizations.

The East has now met the West. The time is ripe for putting all the pieces of the puzzle together for a wider view, even those that previously did not conform to our comfortable, isolated niches.

But let us begin with the Western World’s concept "look deep into nature and discover the self" rather than the Eastern view "look deep into the self, and discover nature". Something tangible we of Western background can grapple with, as we unfold the viewing point, bringing Eastern and Western thought together, and expand our window to Reality.
